Real Madrid Seeks New Adidas Deal
The Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that after spending 200 million euros for buying Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaká, Raul Albiol and Karim Benzema, Real Madrid’s new president Florentino Perez asked Adidas to double the amount it pays to the club to 60 millions euros. Adidas manufactures all the sports goods for the club could push the club into taking business to the company’s American rival Nike.
All-together the sponsors pay the capital club 130 million euros which is not much compared the club revenues of 400 million euros. Perez told the Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer in a telephone conversation that, “We are the best club in the world.”
