2009 LA Galaxy - Away shirt

Adidas manufactured this navy blue shirt for David Beckham’s club LA Galaxy. Typical Adidas pin-strips over the shoulder, Adidas logo under the collar, team crest on the left chest, MLS logo on the right sleeve and sponsor logo in the middle.

Weird football merchandise… like really weird!

A few weeks ago I came across some rubber ducks with football club logos on them. I was surprised to see them and had a good laugh since my club didn’t have one. Since I made that post, we at Soccerlens, went out looking for all the weird merchandise we could find related to any club. So, here is a list of things that we found on the internet:

LA Galaxy 2008 Kits

LA Galaxy 2008 home and away kits, after the jump.

Los Angeles Galaxy 2008 Home Kit
Probably the most popular MLS kit in the world thanks to Mr. Beckham, the Galaxy have to look respectable to show the world that they are worthy of such a player. A simple white home kit – surprisingly one of the only home kits in the league that is white – stays true to the Galaxy tradition. The Herbalife logo blends nicely with the rest of the shirt. Unfortunately, the collar doesn’t really look like it belongs, being really the only dark part of the shirt.

Los Angeles Galaxy 2008 Away Kit
The away kit is a little less fun to look at. There are two different shades of dark blue in the main part of the shirt. The collar has made another appearance, but instead of making this kit look classy and traditional, it makes it look slightly childish. The thin, yellow accents are well done, as are the logos on the chest. Maybe next year the Galaxy should look at having a yellow shirt of this shade, just like they used to when they were winning trophies.

LA Galaxy 2007-08 Away Kit

Tagged: LA Galaxy

While Beckham and crew are doing their world tour and the MLS is promoting the mess out of thier league, there is a little football that is being played. Earlier I posted the old LA Galaxy kit that was awful and extremely ugly. Well when Beckham signed, it must have been too much for him to handle and the LA Galaxy went to a much better color scheme and design.

LA Galaxy 2006-07 Home Kit

Tagged: LA Galaxy

Many things changed when David Beckham decided to leave Europe and play in the MLS for the Los Angeles Galaxy. None more important that the changing of the badge for the LA Galaxy. Wow was the first set of the kits horribe or what? The logo, the design, the colors…just bad. Oh yeah, and the MLS got a lot of publicity all over the world.

With the MLS season approaching I thought I would feature some of the older kits before unveiling the new kits for the upcoming campaign. This is the 2006-07 Home kit that the Galaxy wore prior to Beckham’s arrival. Yellow with a large green diagonal stripe is absolutely horrible. The only good thing about this kit is that Adidas made it, so you know it is a quality kit. Add the bad “Galaxy” logo to the left chest and you have an embarassment. Now I understand in the beginning the bad kits, but this was what they wore for almost 10 years! Should have been dropped a long time before that, however I will give it a 2 out of 5 stars for effort…and effort only. The color scheme is bad, the design is bad, the logo is bad, it’s just bad.
