Video: How a football is made today

Tagged: Adidas - Footballs - News

Having a huge sports goods manufacturing industry in your neighboring city, you ultimately get to see how they make all the sports goods. Living in Pakistan, I’ve seen a lot of footballs being hand-made. Now surely, hand-made footballs can not meet up to the requirements and demands of the modern footballing world. We need a plant that would make hundreds of footballs in a day!

USA 08-10 Home Kit

Tagged: Nike - USA

The USA 08/10 home kit is available for sale.

Now I must say that Nike and the US have missed out on the last 2 of their 3 kits they unveiled. I thought that the white with the red and blue down the left side was a nice kit. In fact I own one, but the retro blue with the red and white going horizontally across the chest was a miscue and the blue they wore in the Copa America was horrible. But this one I like.

Solid white with small red stripes and blue around the collar and sleeves is a nice look. Though not the best I have seen this year from Nike, it does rank up there with some of the best. This kit deserves 4 out of 5 from me. It’s simple yet busy, usually a hard combination to get.

England 2008-10 Away Kit

Update: The English away shirt now available for just £9.99! Scroll down for more information

Well after much anticipation the newest Away kit for England has been unveiled…wow…this is not what I was expecting at all. With all the hype surrounding the kit I thought it would be more of a classic looking kit and less of a train wreck.

Let’s start with what I like about the kit. Having the “Three Lions” crest in the center is a shot back to the older days. It’s a nice touch, and sticking with the solid red has become a staple for England’s away kits. Aside from those I could not find much that I liked with it.

Barcelona 08-09 Away Shirt | Barcelona 09-10 Third Shirt

Update: Barca has continued this shirt in the 2009/2010 as the third shirt.

Barcelona’s 08/09 away kit is all-yellow with a vertical stripe in club colors running down the left side of the shirt on the front (neatly encapsulating the Barcelona logo) and navy blue collar and shorts.

In terms of the base color it’s a lot better than the last year’s away kit although one highlight of Barcelona’s kits in recent years has been how well everything – from the logo to the inscriptions and color combinations – fits together and credit for that goes to Nike for paying attention to detail.

Are today’s football boots ‘too safe’?

Our friends over at Footy Boots are holding their annual football boots awards – and if you’re keen on football shoes then take out a few minutes, vote on the boots and have a look around the site, it’s THE website to go to for all football boots.

Former Liverpool player and current football boot designer, Craig Johnston, has had a lot to say recently about manufacturing standards for today’s football boots.

Craig Johnston along with Simon Skirrow (now owner of Nomis) designed the adidas Predator, so when it comes to talking about what makes for a good football boot, Johnston knows his business.

And while speaking about football boots and football injuries, Johnston had this to say:

09-10 Manchester United home kit | Order NOW! | Launched!

Manchester United’s new 09/10 home shirt seems to be plain red with a black stripe on the front and black collar, white shorts and a red stripe going down the sides. It’s the last season AIG will be sponsoring Manchester United, but that’s a different story.

From the leaked images we had before, it seemed like Nike was trying to milk the historical aspect as much as they could, while keeping the kit’s design to be both historically relevant and fashionable, as it was evident by the attempt to design a schoolgirl uniform with the white V and full collar.

That does not seem to be the case! Whatever the case might be, you can now order your Manchester United 2009/2010 kits from Kitbag. Don’t forget, you heard it on Soccerlens!

Everton 09-10 Home Shirt

everton_8385-homeEverton has launched their 2009/2010 season home shirt and it will be launched on 27th June, 2009.

Everton has shifted to Le Coq Sportif from Umbro from the upcoming season and they’re paying their tribute to the 1983-85 seasons when Everton won the FA Cup, the English First Division and European Cup Winners Cup.

Their 1983-85 shirt is pictured on the right. Their 2009-10 shirt looks pretty much the same like their 83-85 shirt and the only difference would be the end of the sleeves, the sponsor logo and the new club crest.

Adidas manufactures the traditional black and red stripped AC Milan shirts. The next season’s shirt is not very different either. Black and red vertical strips, black shoulders and arms with red Adidas’ special pin-strips going down the shoulder, white collar, Adidas logo in the middle at the end of the collar, the AC Milan crest on the right chest and the bwin logo in the middle.

The 2008/2009 La Liga and Copa Del Rey champions Barcelona will go back to the traditional multiple striped shirt next season. The number of stripes seems to be the only difference in the shirt. Russia’s 09-10 Home and Away kits

Note: The Russian 09-10 home and away shirts are available at Subside Sports now.

Russia will be wearing the Adidas manufactured kits for 2009-10. They’ll be playing the World Cup Qualifiers in this kit at least.

In September 2008, Adidas entered a contract with the Russians until 2018. Hopefully, Adidas will give Russia good kits like this one.
