Sevilla Throw Humble Pie On Man City’s Luis Fabiano Swoop
Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has said in no uncertain terms that they are not willing to sell their star striker Luis Fabiano to Manchester City in January.
Manchester City have been linked with a number of top draw players and were recently linked with bids for Sevilla’s Brazilian international striker Luis Fabiano. British tabloid The Daily Star reported that the Premier League club were eager to splash out as much as €28 million for the 28-year old.
But Sevilla have firmly rejected that bid and have insisted that they are not looking to sell any player to Man City or any other club. Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido has been quoted as saying:
“We have already discarded this opportunity because we feel that it will damage the team.
“We are involved in a lot of competitions and at the moment we do not want to lose such an important player. We are not interested in the money.
“I will not change my mind. Today Seville are not a selling club and the idea of winning matches is more important to us than money.
“The player and the agent have been told this. But the situation could be completely different in the summer.”
Sevilla are competing for the Spanish league title and also harbour hopes of a UEFA Cup triumph. Luis Fabiano finished as the second top scorer in the league last season and is one of the hottest properties in La Liga.
And too hot for Man City to handle!
