I take your point about Keegan, I was being flippant. He was indeed a very fine player, and his first spell as manager of Newcastle produced some wonderful football.

I just thought from day one that his appointment this time was a mistake for everyone and haven’t seen anything yet to make me chsnge my mind.

I think he should have stayed in retirement and been remembered as a great rather than taking this risk.

Its a shame that Martins was in the dark about Keegan. Graham, I dont agree with your point about hyped up English players. Please dont include Keegan as one of them(Beckham, Lampard are right there I agree). This is someone who tasted success in England and abroad(that too with a little club), came back to England to join an even smaller club and finally had the balls to take up the manager post at St.James Park after Ardiles. Whats missing is a colourful national record but I guess you should blame Sir Bobby Robson for that. He deserves better Mr.Fisher…………
