Serie A Winter Transfers Update – The Entire “Calciomercato” of January 2008

Messieurs, rien ne va plus“! Scouts/negotiatiors/investors/sporting directors/club presidents have been working their ass off this past month, jumping from table to table in their endless quest for a last-minute star buy, in the traditional carousel that brings players, agents, and club owners all together in a merry-go-round dance. All bets are off now however, because what is known as the “CALCIOMERCATO” back in the old country (or, the January transfer window if your prefer) has officially come to an end as of Wednesday evening.

So for your viewing pleasure, mCalcio.com has arranged a practical table summary for all Serie A INGOING and OUTGOING TRANSFERS of the Winter break, with some great help from La Gazzetta dello Sport. If you’re curious about what other players all these clubs were targeting during this past month (i.e. the “near misses” category), have a look at this post which also includes the PLAYER NEGOTIATIONS.

Current league leaders Inter Milan have made only 2 changes in their roster, both loans: Maniche has arrived from Atletico Madrid (see his presentation post here on Soccerlens), and the striker formerly-known-as-”Emperor” Adriano has left for São Paulo. Both are doing well in their new teams, especially Adriano who last week scored a double on his São Paulo debut.

sissoko1 Serie A Winter Transfers Update The Entire Calciomercato of January 2008Meanwhile, Juventus have been doing a bit of shopping in the English Premiership lately: after acquiring the services of L’pool’s Momo Sissoko for £8.2m this week, they have finalized the purchase of Olof Mellberg from Aston Villa. stendardo1 Serie A Winter Transfers Update The Entire Calciomercato of January 2008The Swedish defender is due to arrive at the end of the current season. Other arrivals include the much-needed central defender Guglielmo Stendardo from Lazio. With the departure of former Magpie Jean-Alain Boumsong to Lyon, players like Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Ruben Olivera (Peñarol), and Sergio Almirón (AS Monaco) have all been loaned out to foreign clubs.

bianchi1.thumbnail Serie A Winter Transfers Update The Entire Calciomercato of January 2008Another club who’s been doing EPL shopping are Lazio: after Rolando Bianchi left Man City to join the Roman side on a loan deal (I guess his role of benchwarmer for Sven-Goran Eriksson wasn’t particularly exciting), another Citizen (Ousmane Dabo) has joined the Biancocelesti on a permanent deal. All the while Sebastian Rozenhal arrived from Newcastle.

pato1 Serie A Winter Transfers Update The Entire Calciomercato of January 2008AC Milan and Roma on their end, haven’t been particularly active. Sure, there’s the never-ending Ronaldinho-to-Milan rumours, and Amantino Mançini has been linked to at least half the clubs of Europe since September, but that stuff will have to wait until this Summer. Aside from finalizing the Alexandre Pato transfer from Internacional Porto Alegre, the Rossoneri haven’t moved an inch. On Roma’s end, they just loaned out defender Samuel Kuffour to Ajax Amsterdam.

Others: former Arsenal striker Arturo Lupoli has been loaned out to Treviso by his club Fiorentina, while Cristiano Lucarelli has joined Parma from the Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.

I think you mixed up Roma’s ins and outs. Btw, they signed Gulan? I just discovered him a few days ago in FM, looks promising. They’ve got a couple of decent players at Partizan, but I guess they will all go like Gulan, through the back door for a handful of money. Does he really think he will play at Roma?

I think most people who wants to become an manager need to play football manager games like Football Manager 2007. Because you learn to use tactics and you can see what the qualities of some players in FM is, which you can use for your career according to ttt comment.
