Serge Aurier’s Agent Responds to Arsenal Rumours

Arsenal’s hope of signing Serge Aurier has taken a serious blow after the defender’s agent admitted the Gunners have not made contact with Toulouse for the right-back.

The Independent earlier reported the North London club are lining up a £7m bid to replace Bacary Sagna at the Emirates. The French international’s contract will expire later this month and has already confirmed he is leaving Arsenal this summer.

Earlier we reported that Sagna is set to join Manchester City in the coming transfer window and Arsene Wenger is preparing a move in signing Aurier as a replacement for his compatriot.

However, the Ivory Coast international’s agent Stephane Courbis admitted there has been no contact from Arsenal for a while.

“There is no agreement with Arsenal or anyone else. There have been discussions with Arsenal in the past, but it’s been a while since there has been any talks,” Courbis told RMC.

“To tell you the truth, we are even talking to another English club, so there is really nothing to act upon.”

The agent’s latest comments come will come as a massive blow for Wenger and Arsenal as they were keen on signing the talented right-back, who is considered as one of the star players of the Ligue 1 during the 2013-14 season.

However, there is some hope for Arsenal and their fans in order to seal a deal for the defender. Earlier, Aurier confirmed to a fan that he will replace Sagna at the North London club next season.

“I’ve never prioritised a club in England as even the promoted clubs are respectable,” Aurier told Eurosport France in May.

“I will privilege the one that will show the most interest in me, that will give me the most game time. After that, you can’t really say ‘no’ to Arsenal. It’s a club with history, with a French manager, who has welcomed many French players.”

  1. IDIOT. Does the opening sentence to this article make any sense at all. If arsenal want to sign this player presumably they will get in touch and if not they have no hopes to deal a serious blow to. The only person i have seen quoted on this issue is the player himself so any hopes being dealt a serious blow are the players.

  2. I told managements to sack arsen wenger. He is not the best manager. He is only lucky to finish in top four. Next season he may drop like man united did. The top four next season will look like this:- 1, man city , chelsea, man united nd Liverpool. It will be a shame for wenger to finish below top four. By that time the managements will like to replace him. They need to sack him. Without him arsenal wil still go places even better. So sting now he has lost his sense of reasoning.

  3. How is it a massive blow for Wenger that Arsenal ahvent contact Auriers agent? If he wants him he will call Toulouse and ask.

  4. Up till now he could not know who to buy. Only in arsenal clubs are getting the players they needed. I can do the job better than wenger. Even nigerian Stephen keshi is even better than wenger

  5. @Gab is a complete football ignoramus. Thanks to God arsenal do not ave people like you at the helm of our affair. What has Aurier contact got to do with Arsene’s sense of reasoning?Very laughable comment.

  6. There’s no blow. And Wenger is a great manager. Arsenal dont buy player for the sake of spending. Look at Tottenham, spending 100K, but gets nothing.

I believe Wenger will get some good player this year.
