Rumours: Manchester United’s Keane To Be Sunderland Manager
Manchester United legend Roy Keane is reportedly set to be named the new manager of Sunderland.
Roy Keane, who retired this summer from football after a short spell at Celtic, is close friends with Niall Quinn, chairman and current manager at Sunderland. Keano and Quinn are former international teammates.
Niall Quinn announced on Thursday that a new manager was being lined up to replace him as boss - Sunderland are out of the League Cup and bottom of the Championship, and most people had been expecting Quinn to ’sack’ himself for some time.
Roy Keane has been interested in a managerial career even when he was at Manchester United, and after gained his coaching badges this summer he seems to be set to take his first steps in management at Sunderland.
Quinn will be hoping the Manchester United legend can help transform Sunderland’s fortunes after a disastrous start to the season.
Keane is expected to take charge for the first time in next Monday’s home clash with West Bromwich Albion.

(Sky Sports just broke the news as well…)
Reaction: Why? Friendship, challenge, what? Why SUNDERLAND? (no offence to sunderland fans, but this is Keano we’re talking about)
Oh well. We’ll know by tomorrow.
Who’s going to argue? No place for wimps or possers in the dressing room, but what funds can he expect.
Couple of seasons and he might even be ready for a return to Old Trafford, if Sparky doesn’t beat him there.
Keane stated that he would rather learn his management trade in the lower divisions so I expect Sunderland to be relegated again this year.
