Rubbish Rumours - Real Madrid bid for Ronaldo

Real Madrid will think that they came close to signing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United last summer, but the cold reality is that Manchester United are not willing to let go of their prized asset unless a crazy money offer comes along.

Real Madrid are, of course, famous for their crazy money and with Ronaldo in red-hot form, it’s not hard to imagine Capello’s dour Madrid getting a much-needed boost from Ronaldo’s skills and talents.

AFP reports (via Yahoo News):

Spanish giants Real Madrid have made a bid for on-fire Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real, without silverware for four years, have bid 40 million euros for the 21-year-old Portugual international in an effort to sign him in the January transfer window, the Madrid-based ABC daily has said Thursday.

But the English Premiership leaders have no intention of letting go of the in-form Ronaldo, who scored three consecutive doubles for his club over the holiday period, and have slapped a price tag of 70 million euros on him, ABC said.

It was not possible to confirm the report at Real Madrid.

I don’t think Manchester United will be willing to sell at any price, although if a 40-50 mil bid comes in you have to wonder whether any player is worth that much money or not.

Ronaldo is gold, and his best years are in front of him, AND he’s happy at Old Trafford for the next few years, at least. Madrid want him but they’re also after Ribery, and are much more likely to back the Neville-lookalike than they are to get their grubby hands on Manchester United’s finest.

So please dismiss this bullshit as…bullshit.

  1. Simply a load of crap . No way in hell that ronaldo is going to leave . Just a bunch of unfounded speculation … ronaldo is a red devil , and will always be a red devil ! Hands off him !!

  2. Sounds like the same sort of whimpering chest-pounding I heard a few years ago when Madrid went in for Beckham. We know how that ended.

Biased articles like this one aside (aluding to “grubby hands”), fact of the matter is that Real Madrid always has been, and always will be - even during one of its longest title droughts - a bigger, more attractive club to virtually every player in the world, including one Cristiano Ronaldo.

Maybe part of that has to do with the fact that we’ve had our “grubby hands” on so many more trophies than Man Utd?

  3. It’s not true, its just media speculations and made up rumors.

Real Madrid did not even make a offer for Ronaldo when he offered his services to them in the sumnmer so why would they do it now where his price is most likely gone really realy up?

The thing is, Fabio Capello himself said that he did not want Ronaldo so that must have put a end to it.

Ronaldo’s agent even offered his services to Barcelona and they did not want to bid for him.

  4. Very unlikely Utd will release Ronaldo unlike Beckham. Beckham was getting past his prime and Fergie had enough of his antics anyway. Better to cash out then.

Also, Ronaldo wouldn’t want to go Real when RVN is there. It was the bust-up between the 2 that led Fergie to start kicking RVN out.

Anyway Fergie is the best to bring out geniuses in young whizkids so Ronaldo is wise enough to stay at OT.

  5. REAL SHOULD SIGN RICARDO QUARESMA from Porto IF THEY CAN’T SIGN CRISTIANO RONALDO!!!
WHY CAN’T CAPELLO AND MEJATHOVIC THINK OF THIS????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY BOTH ARE IDENTICAL! QUARESMA HAS WON TWO CONSECUTIVES PORTUGAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD. DON’T LET Atlético Madrid GET HIM. SHOULD BID ON RONALDO LAST SUMMER, NOW HE MOST PROBABLY WON’T GO TO MADRID. TELL THAT TO THAT STUPID CALDERON
