Everton manager Roberto Martinez fears that he might not be able to hold on to some of his star players next season. The club would be forced to sell the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Ross Barkley and John Stones next summer, should they receive tempting offers.

Lukaku, for instance, has enjoyed a phenomenal campaign this season for Everton. The Belgian striker has scored 18 league goals and 25 in total when other competitions are taken into account.

The 22-year-old joined Everton for a reported fee of £28m in 2014 after failing to cement a position in the Chelsea first team. He has established himself as a great goal scorer and has become the subject of interest of many top European clubs.

Lukaku has been taken well care of by Martinez and Everton, but the Belgian is now ready to move on. And Everton should allow him to join a big club and fulfil his true potential.

The striker’s father, Roger Lukaku, believes that his son should leave Everton to join a big club like Manchester United or Bayern Munich. He reveals that there is an interest from Lukaku’s former club Chelsea as well.

“He’s ready,” Lukaku Sr. told Het Laatste Nieuws‏. “I see that there is interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United.

“I think he must choose Manchester United or Bayern Munich. Manchester United is a team under construction with no real focus.

“Bayern Munich is a machine where he can rotate well. The only condition is if Robert Lewandowski leaves.”

United are looking to sign a quality striker to spearhead their attack next season. Lukaku is young, a proven goal scorer and has a fair bit of Premier League experience as well. He is perfect for United.
