DOF in London, Chelsea to complete €25m transfer this week

After months of transfer wrangle, negotiations, cajoling with varying degree of threats as well, it seems like Fiorentina have finally given up on their plans of signing Mohamed Salah permanently from Chelsea.

The Egyptian winger joined Fiorentina on loan in January and made a strong impression in the Serie A. Although, Salah has no future at Chelsea, but he has no shortage of offers from other Serie A clubs, including Juventus, Roma and Inter Milan.

All the major Italian newspapers – Gazzetta dello Sport, Tuttosport & Corriere dello Sport – have covered a story on Salah today, more or less reporting on the same lines.

GDS reports that Roma have offered €23m and are in the pole position to sign him. The Gialorrossi have earmarked Salah as the club’s top priority target in the summer ahead of Dzeko and are ready to meet Chelsea’s €25m asking price.

Roma’s Director of Football, Walter Sabatini was in London recently and met with Salah to discuss over the transfer. However, according to reports from Corriere dello Sport, Roma would prefer a loan move with a forced option to buy, and that the deal should be completed within this weekend.

The reports are highly conflicting to be honest. Chelsea would be looking to get the cash immediately so that they can use the money to invest into the squad. On the other hand, will Roma pay €23-25m for Salah? The Serie A clubs have spent big this summer, but Roma ideally would be wanting a loan move with an option to make the deal permanent. Expect the saga to roll down till the final few days of the summer transfer window.
