Arsenal’s €15m target could seal his transfer today

Roma are all set to lose their star defender Mehdi Benatia this summer to Bayern Munich. According to widespread reports in Italy, Roma have agreed a deal to sell Benatia to Bayern for a package deal of around €30m.

The Moroccan international will fly to Germany and seal his transfer within next 48 hours, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.

The pink coloured Italian newspaper suggest that Roma didn’t hesitate to make an alternative move and have moved quickly to sign Arsenal target Kostas Monalos.

Gazzetta claim that Manolas could officially become a Roma player by today. Talks were held yesterday, with Olympiakos demanding around €15m.

In the end, Roma have sealed the deal for around €13m and now the defender will sign a five year contract at the club.

However, the picture was not quite the same only a week ago. Journalists close to Arsenal claimed that the Gunners are seriously preparing a deal for Manolas and were hopeful of completing a deal at the earliest.

Manolas impressed during the World Cup in Brazil for the Greece. I personally think Arsenal didn’t shown enough interest in the 23-year-old. Plus, Roma tabled a better offer and moved quickly to seal the deal.

  1. what I am getting really fed up with is that ALL us gooners know what is needed to compete let alone with the EPL is
1 top quality replacement for TV5
    2 top quality CDM
    3 top quality striker

We have the money so whats holding it up, Answer Arsene Wenger, if we had bought three players in these positions I believe we would be sitting on 6 points instead of 4, this could prove very costly in the title run in!!!
Why must we wait for players to get injured before he buys???, shop in Harrods Arsene you get quality shop in Aldi you get what you pay for!!!

  2. Why is Arsenal having so much difficulty in signing good players , is it because the club are unwilling to spend BIG ?.
It is very frustrating to read so much transfer news indicating that Arsenal are closed to signing this and that players but at the end some other clubs just snap them away so easily. During the transfer window so much of star players such as Sami Khedira , William Calvarho , Balotelli , Calvani , Falcao , Manolas , Adrien Rabiot , Luis Gustavo and many more keep poping up in the transfer market news but up to date the club is still struggling and unable to secure any signing

  3. This is all about the club’s policy whereby when they want to buy any player from a different club they want him at acheaper price and after the negotiations btn clubs still even the the player they want pay him less salary in this morden football of the more u invest the more u harvest alot at the end of the season so its the Arsenal staff which is less serious i dont even how call them. But for me i dont even need them to b existing on this living earth i wish i was the owner of that club but the stuff is just hopeless and stupid thx, for me i wish our club to compete in the Europa cup next season thats when they ‘ll get to know that even the coach is not supposed to be at our club with such his age group.

  4. As supporters just children at home, we dont see beyond the goodness of players. You may move with a kid and she/he will admire everything in the shopping center, but do they fit in the family budget? Or you just buy when you can’t even afford maintainance cost?

For an organised organisation, there are rules/policies that need to be followed as a team to succeed. And you have to stick with them to remain a respected body and that is simply ARSENAL.

Can you buy a substitute player and pay him more than a first team player without unrest in the team? Assume the guy demands more than what lovely Gibbs or other defenders earns yet he will be on the bench, can we go ahead and buy him? And do you know what that will mean to the rest of the squad?

The size of Arsenal is what it is now and moving forward because of partly the managerial skills of Prof. Wenger. He deserves respect.

  5. we are constantly being linked to various quality players yet here we are the window will soon be closed and we still have not addressed the areas of the team which need strengthened,a defensive mid-fielder a reliable centre back and a world class striker .Looks like that it will be panic buying before Monday then we will either end up not signing anyone for the above mentioned positions or we will sign unproven unknown players. What kind of transfer policy are we operating? Our rivals have signed quality but we seem to be window shopping or are we on bargain hunt?
