Robinho – Slave or Ungrateful Brat?

Robinho – Slave or Ungrateful Brat?

Robinho is a liar. He doesn’t want to play for Chelsea. He wants to leave Real Madrid because he thinks he’s never going to get the money and the respect that he feels he deserves. Chelsea are just the richest club to have come along and offer him a spot. If Liverpool had the money or United had the need they’d have gone for him, and we’d now be hearing about how much Robinho wants to play for the team in red.

Since it’s about the money (and not some childhood dream to play for Chelsea who weren’t exactly setting the world alight 10 years ago), the question is this – are Madrid being unfair or is Robinho just an ungrateful git?

In my view Madrid cocked this up badly by letting the ‘Robinho for Ronaldo’ stories do the rounds and not offering Robinho a better contract when players like Sneijder, van Nistelrooy and even Van der Vaart are getting much higher wages than him. I wouldn’t say that Robinho is better than any of those 3 but on current ability he deserves to earn something similar to them, don’t you think?

But it’s not so easy – as Madrid are finding out, if you promise a player money and love he’ll try anything to come to you. In fact, Madrid are now complaining about Chelsea in an official statement that is so desperately worded that it makes you pity them:

“The club refers to an earlier statement on this matter, when it said if the player’s final decision was to unilaterally rescind his contract, we would have no option but to accept it.

Real deplore the way Chelsea’s directors have acted despite knowing perfectly well the decision not to sell the player, making statements and even going so far as to sell shirts with the player’s name on through their official website.”

Madrid have already set the bar in how far a club goes in getting their player. Chelsea made a mistake (actually, Kitbag made the mistake but it falls on Chelsea anyway) but isn’t this how the game is played – telling the press you want to sign the player, that you’re waiting, that the deal is close, etc etc?

Robinho hasn’t helped his cause either with a ridiculous press conference where he begged to be released. He’s not a slave, he’s just a moron. So is Calderon for letting this situation get out of hand.

ashwin – rumours are that Tottenham have asked for Campbell but I doubt they’ve asked for him. If Campbell goes it’ll probably be to Hull.

first of all, agreed, chelsea indeed not a dream club 10 years then, but it is now. love or hate it, whether it was driven by big money or else, chelsea does offer players at least a chance to be top of the world, and to make it better, it offers their player the money to burn.. who doesnt want it? at least not for me, hell i’ll sit on chelsea’s bench-of-morons for merely 20k pound per week, let alone 100k. im a mercenary, now flame me.. lol

Robinho isn’t a slave or an ungrateful brat, he is a MAN! Calderon and Mijatovic played him dirty and now Real Madrid is about to lose their best player. Robinho is obviously smarter than people realize. As a Madridista I’m upset he’s leaving but as a MAN I wouldn’t tolerate the disrespect either. Without Robinho, Real Madrid wouldn’t have won the last 2 LA LIGA championships. It’s Makelele all over again and just like Makelele, Real Madrid might not realize what they had until he’s gone.

ahmed, i really don’t think robinho is ungrateful…..madrid are reaping their due from their unholy pursuit of ronaldo….the thing that he is a part of supposed transfer of the century should have severely undermined his ego….let’s accept it ,he is a good player with proven creditinals if not scolari will not pursue him…..madrid undermined him for ronaldo….and i sincerly think that the term ‘ungrateful’ doesn’t apply to players of clubs like madrid and chelski who need instant sucess and they treat players and managers like robots….sincerity in a club-player relationship is a two way process….in most cases yhe players tend to personify their club’s attitude…..for all the tales of ronaldo’s wish to play for madrid a meeting with fergie was enough to change his mind and say that he is fully commited to the club…the same cant be said of berb’s or lampard(who needed the money not the challenge) saga…

I think your wrong, its only this from this season that Robinho wants to come to Chelsea, i mean of course people want to come to Chelsea, not just because of the money but look at all the stars at Chelsea and look how good they did last season with a Unknown Manager, now they’ve got a world class manager, Chelsea can win things, and Robinho knows it.

Were Chelsea not setting the world alight 10 years ago? Chelsea won the FA Cup in 1997, the League Cup and Uefa Cup Winners Cup and the Super Cup in 1998.

Who was the team they beat in the Super Cup? Why, Real Madrid of course.

Funny how that no history thing works out, isn’t it?

As I´ve said, Robinho only wanted Chelsea’s money. Now, City pays and Robinho wants City’s money. Here in Madrid we knew Robinho. He was the big slave: he had to go to all Madrid night partys.
