Right Result: Chelsea sack Scolari on a penalty not given

Handling offences were the order of the weekend in another batch of controversial Premier League games.

Struggling Hull City gained a valuable and unexpected point at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s title aspirations took a severe blow.

The Blues could have gone on to win though had a penalty been awarded for a second-half handball by Andy Dawson, the brother of Tottenham Hotspur’s Michael Dawson.

It was turned down by referee Lee Mason – the brother of former Hull City striker Andy Mason.

Stoke City had a day to forget at Sunderland.

The Potters had to use all three substitutes before the half-hour mark, had a player sent-off and suffered another defeat on their travels.

The only consolation was that it could have been even worse had ref Rob Styles spotted a blatant handball by Danny Pugh as he cleared a Steed Malbranque header off the line late in the first-half.

No mention of Lucas Neill’s blatant trip on Ronaldo. Now if the score had been 0-0 at the time and the penalty given (it was a stick on penalty) and scored, how much endless moaning would we have had, especially from the Liverpool camp?

It’s interesting how things get endless debate when they could make a difference to the result but are virtually overlooked otherwise.

    I assume you’re a Chelsea fan ?

Scolari was not sacked for a single bad performance and if anyone deserved to win that match, it was Hull not Chelsea, they were simply the better team on the day.

As for the penalty shout, Hull have had far more go against them, than for them, due to the top 4 bias from all referees.

Pointing out that Lee Mason was the brother of some fringe player at Hull some 15 years ago is really shabby, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

    Call this journalism ?

For those interesting in a proper reflection of the game, here’s a typical match report.

Chelsea’s fading title aspirations sustained another massive blow as they failed to overcome hard-working Hull and were booed off by their own fans at Stamford Bridge.

Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side have now dropped 16 points at home this season and after Aston Villa’s win at Blackburn, they slipped into fourth place in the Barclays Premier League.

Hull, without a win in nine league games, became the latest side to frustrate Chelsea on their home turf and with some more composed finishing in front of goal, City may well have taken all three points.

Hull City fan here… I think that Chelsea played some amazing football under Scolari and I like the man. I think your run by a dictator and need to wise up to that fact. whilst under that you will never succeed, no country or football as ever???… who would want that job after the way they have treated the last 3 managers…

  5. I can’t agree more than lamb.and barkers
But u got the main thing wrong
Scolari was here to learn the language

  6. scolari should go and look for club like arsenal or look for some guys to recruit not chelsea because only club like arsenal can lay that pattern
