Everton and Middlesbrough suffered from bad referee decisions
The 2008-09 Premier League season kicks-off with the Right Result team back in action and as always there were some big talking points.
Everton were familiar subjects of Right Result judgments last season and the Toffees are off to an early start this term, being hard-done-by in their encounter with Paul Ince’s Blackburn Rovers outfit. Once again, the panel rules in favour of the Toffees as Blackburn Rovers’ last-gasp winner at Goodison Park should not have counted due to Ryan Nelsen being in an offside position.
Right Result: Everton 2-2 Blackburn
Middlesbrough have been acknowledged for respecting the new Respect campaign as referee Martin Atkinson received a reasonably polite response from captain Manny Pogatetz and defender David Wheater after the latter (wrongly in the Right Result’s opinion) had a goal ruled out against Tottenham Hotspur.
Right Result: Middlesbrough 3-1 Tottenham
Those weren’t the only two incidents the team looked at as there were shouts in the Chelsea-Pompey and Man United-Newcastle matches, but the referee was deemed by the panel to have called the big decisions correctly.
See how this changes the league table. Until next week….

And what about the linesmans poor decision against Tottenham that lead to Boro’s second goal? Giving Boro a thrown-in when the ball was still in play just because some Boro fans yelled and he crapped himself?
August 18th, 2008 @ 16:06Middlesbrough were also lucky just before Mido scored their second. Spurs were attacking and ruled to have taken the ball out which resulted in a Boro throw. The linesman only gave this after all the home fans stood up and started giving him abuse NOT respect!
August 18th, 2008 @ 16:06Exactly mate
August 18th, 2008 @ 16:08And what about when a ‘boro player went through the back of Modric after he played the ball…the ref rightly waved play on but never went back to book the player, ramifications of that may have impacted on the game! Are you really going to spend the whole season reviewing every refereeing decision (as even the innocuous decisions can have an overall impact)…seriously you guys must have TMFFT (too much free f’ing time!)
August 18th, 2008 @ 17:12Pity the asst. ref. at Everton didn’t also notice that during the match the Everton goalkeeper stepped out of his box with the ball. Should have been off.
August 18th, 2008 @ 17:19deco should have got sent off early in the chelsea pompey match too.he caught lassana diarra on the thigh with a very late tackle with the ref close yet managed to escape any sort of booking
