Arsenal denied a legitimate goal, Manchester United helped by referees again
Another week of Premier League action and another week of Blackburn Rovers and Steve Bennett getting involved in Right Result rulings.
It’s the third match they’ve each have had Right Result involvement already this term with both parties coming together in Manchester United’s visit to Ewood Park… much to the ire of Blackburn boss Paul Ince.
And for the second week in a row, United have prospered from a generous refereeing decision as Wes Brown’s opener should have been chalked off for Nemanja Vidic impeding Rovers keeper Jason Brown.
Elsewhere, Arsenal speed merchant Theo Walcott was too quick for the ref’s assistant at Sunderland.
The England hero used his pace to stop the whole of the ball going out of play before supplying Robin Van Persie for his erroneously disallowed goal.

Just looking at the title it is just a rat race this season
The Premier League has already been decided in a star chamber at the highest level.
It seems the referees are god. They can amke blunders without being held accountable. It’s about time the FA send a strong message by banning them for five matches and for serious cock ups for good.
That will ensure the man in black does his job without bias.
I don’t quite get this “helped Man United nonsense”. I can understand the Bolton game where we were looking a little rusty before the pen, but the Blackburn game had been dominated from the beginning, anyone who thinks Man United needed the refs “help” to win that game is clearly blind, we were bound to score sometime.
Nonsense! 1) Rover’s keeper was already back-pedalling. 2) Where were you when Theo flicked the ball to Robin to judge the ball was still in play–at the corner flag?
i know 1 day match fixin in england ll be unravelled
I dont think there is any match-fixing in the game, but it is obvious that the referees have a soft corner for Man U. And everyone excessively English (from the refs to Andy Gray) hates Arsenal………..
Concerning Manchester United, maybe Wes Brown’s goal shouldn’t have counted, but there was no doubt about Rooney’s goal. Man Utd. deserved to win that match, plain and simple.
As for the Arsenal non-goal, I liveblogged the match and it was really difficult to tell, even with the replays, whether the ball went over or not. If it was hard for the commentators and viewers, then it was doubly hard for the refs, who don’t get the benefit of replay. I doubt there was anything nefarious going on, it was just a tough call.
for all this tak of the MIB’s having a soft spot for united..have you all gone bonkers?! firstly, did any of you watch last years campaign? there were numerous times when United were denied obvious penalties. remember the fa cup semi against portsmouth when United were denied two clearcut penalties? where was the United bias there, huh? as for the pen against bolton, yes they were hard done to concede a penalty becauase in the english game that is never a foul. however, on an international level, in south america that is always going to be a penalty because the trailing leg swept over ronnie’s back foot. I don’t agree with the decision to award the penalty. England has the best league in the world because it has the most international diversity and because it is the last place in the world where men are allowed to play football like men and not little brazilian nancies
No ted, all your praise for English football is severely misplaced. The best football is played in Germany. Its physical, fast, very few players dive over there and it is undoubtedly the most entertaining league to watch. The very reason why English football loses its validity is related to the point of this article………….
bolton, blackburn, and now celtic how many one goal starts are man u going to get thanks to officials.
and if its only a matter of time before they score [lol]
then wait untill they do. if teams are happy to work for a draw against utd, its down to utd to break the deadlock not officials. forcing opponents to then over commit men going forward and leaving opportunities for utd they havent earned.
