Right Result: Newcastle should have lost to Sunderland while Manchester City deserved a point against Stoke
They say a week is a long time in football but just four days has seen a total turnaround in the world of the Right Result.
On Wednesday, we thought Newcastle United should have been awarded a penalty at Manchester City for Micah Richards challenge on Steven Taylor.
By the end of the weekend, those roles had been reversed.
Manchester City’s poor run of away results continued at struggling Stoke City but, on this occasion, Micah Richards can feel aggrieved as the penalty that should have been been awarded following the clumsy tackle on him by Andy Griffin should have given the visiting City the chance of a hard-earned point.
Meanwhile, amid the red-hot atmosphere of a Tyne / Wear derby, Steven Taylor earned Newcastle United a vital point having ‘won’ a penalty under Steed Malbranque’s presence. Having reviewed the evidence, following Joe Kinnear’s well-documented insomnia comment, will Taylor and referee Howard Webb sleep soundly though?
Elsewhere, Manchester United continue their seemingly untroubled run to another Premier League title.
With a new record for consecutive clean sheets safely in the bag, United’s 1-0 winning margin against Everton should have been doubled with a penalty for Joleon Lescott’s second-half foul on Michael Carrick.

was this writer at the derby game should have had a penalty before this incident plus whitehead should have been sent off for the dirty fouls on jonas. in fact any one of four mackem players could and should have been sent off!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a load of tosh – Man City deserved a “hard earned” point? If hard earned means no Plan B, diving to get a penalty from no contact because the £50m strikeforce couldnt carve a goal – then no challenge. Watch the games in future – without your glamourous stars tinted glasses on!! GO ON STOKE….

You are kidding me right? In financial terms David beat Goliath with one hand tied behind his back! It was never a penalty in a million years. Richards decided to fall over about 10 minutes after Griffin barely touched him. Do you people even watch these games?
