One noticable aspect from the recently televised (in the UK) match against Austria Vienna was the willingness of the more senior Athletic players to give the ball to Muniain. They appear to be acknowledging what a fantastic creative talent the lad is. While not all of Athletic's squad comes through the cantera (and there has been a lot of consternation in the Basque country about the club using its relative financial muscle to attract from Real Sociedad in particular), the message sent by the emergence of young players to Basque youngsters hoping to become professional footballers makes me hopeful that the glory days could return to San Mames. Or at the very least, maintain their proud record of never having been relegated.
