Real Madrid sign Pepe and still regret losing Beckham
David Beckham says that ideally he’d have stayed at Real Madrid for 3 years more if the Madrid management had not told him in January 2007 to, in simple terms, fuck off. He says he felt some regret when Madrid won the trophy but he’s moved on now.
Poor David Beckham - kicked out of United, kicked out of Madrid. Odds for him being kicked out of LA?
Real Madrid have also added to their summer acquisitions of Bernd Schuster (coach) and Christoph Metzelder with Pepe, central defender from Porto for 28m euros. Since I haven’t seen him play and I’m not going to start talking out of my ass at this time of the night, can anyone please tell me if Pepe is any good?
Real Madrid ’should’ have their defence fixed for next season - although they probably need to do more than just to fix their defence.

never seen him play, but real seem to have paid alot of money for players that dont seem to be worth their transfer fees. I cant say that he will be rubbish but dont expect him to be that good, like baptista, gago, jugain,and cicinho to name a few. Real are saying that they are going to sign great players like fab, kaka and robben, but for the past few years real have been buying players that will only get them to the CL knockout phase and 2nd in la liga. this obviously excludes last year where they bought to win the league for a couple of years as so many were “old”.
Nobody had anything good to say about Pepe 3 years ago (myself included). Every time he played he was booed.
Then came Co Adriaanse in 2005/2006 which settled in an unorthodox 3-3-4 tactics in which Pepe became the fans hero.
He ruled over the defence with class. R. Carvalho couldn’t have a better successor… Until now…
Pepe was the guy who wasvaccidentally elbowed by Rooney in the Amsterdam Tournament last year which led to that stupid 3 game suspension.
Pepe is a player who established himself in the Porto XI after a year of “maturing” (pretty much needed, since he was a loose cannon in defence when he arrived). Co Adriaanse helped him evolve and become a brilliantly fast-paced center-back, great in the air and with a great future ahead of him. He will be sorely missed…

For all the blinded people that only knows something about premiership (who doesn’t…), Pepe is one of the best center back i’ve seen in a while. last year he stopped drogba in the champions game, and many other star players… it’s very hard to pass by him cause he’s very fast and strong. plus he’s good in the air… he’s a great purchase for real and you will see… like many other players from FC Porto that most of you never heard about, there is a reason for Porto be the club with more income from transfers so far… so open your eyes outside your championship…

Pepe is a quality defender but Madrid were forced to pay way over the odds for him, but I guess that’s the rule as far as the big clubs go. Still, he’s a great acquisition for Madrid though I believe Barcelona have got the better deal in Gabriel Milito
gooner10 - on several occasions you’ve made some absolutely daft comments regarding Real Madrid and mostly I’ve shrugged them off but this one takes the cake.
Baptista, you mean the same one Wenger, whom you probably worship, was so desperate to sign, on two separate occasions? Maybe not only Madrid make mistakes. Having said this I think Baptista, in the right circumstances, is a quality player.
Gago will, in my opinion, turn out to be a great player. He is still young and has a long way to go but the potential is there.
Jugain? I assume you mean Higuaín. Another player with massive potential.
Cicinho, when fit, recognized as one of the world’s best right backs.
Do you actually ever watch Real Madrid? I know that Madrid, being one of the biggest clubs in the world, is constantly in the news and thus it makes it very easy to engage in uninformed commentary about the club.. but that doesn’t mean you should do it.

We know we’re not as good as you at soccer, but we’re only 200 and some years old…please be nice parents and help us and encourage us instead of crotchety ones who abuse us. OK we do do stupid stuff but so do all kids, so help us be better. Who else can teach us but you? Would you want anyone else teaching us?
