Real Madrid President Hints Move for Former Chelsea Target

Real Madrid could make an approach for AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao after the Spanish side’s president Florentino Perez hinted a move for the Colombian hotshot next summer could be a possibility.

The 27 year old joined the cash rich club Monaco from Atletico Madrid for a fee which the Daily Mail reports to be around £53million. Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City were believed to be interested in signing Falcao, but the South American rejected a chance to move to England in order to join the Ligue 1  side.

However, after the former Porto and Atletico star joined Monaco earlier in the summer, the Express reported that Falcao could leave the French outfit in the same transfer window. Luckily for Monaco, the striker continued with his current employers, ending the newly surfaced speculation in the final days of the window.

Madrid recently added Gareth Bale to their squad after the nine-time European champions completed a world record deal £85.3million deal with Tottenham Hotspur. Perez is now considering a move for Falcao to add the Colombian international to the Los Blancos’ squad next summer.

“He (Falcao) won’t come in January but in June, who knows? Nothing is impossible and there is a lot of time between now and then. Falcao is a great player and I am aware that he wants to play for Madrid. I am aware of that, but it’s normal. They told me,” the Daily Mail quoted Perez as saying.

With Perez’s latest remarks, it would come as a relief for Liverpool and their fans as a move for Falcao would block Luis Suarez’s possible move to Madrid either in January or next summer.

The Uruguayan international has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital after failing to find an exit route from Anfield in the summer.

The former Ajax striker has his heart set on joining Madrid after his compatriot and Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani revealed Suarez’s desire to join the La Liga giants.

“I am sure Liverpool fans are very happy Luis stayed – he will be a big player for them. I think Arsenal was not Luis’s dream move, maybe if it had been Real Madrid then it would have been a different outcome – but of course Madrid were concentrating on a different target this summer,” Cavani told the Daily Mail.
