Real Madrid eye €50m Manchester United target as Sergio Ramos replacement

Sergio Ramos

The possibility of Sergio Ramos leaving Real Madrid could soon be a reality as report from the Times claims that Manchester United have made an opening bid of about £32m for the 29 year old Spanish defender. The report states that United’s offer for Ramos was submitted in writing.

The fresh developments come just after yesterday night when we reported that Ramos has underlined his desire to leave the Spanish capital side. Ramos held a meeting with Madrid’s chief executive José Ángel Sánchez at the Valdebebas training ground yesterday morning. The defender was told that the club would listen to offers.

Ramos contract stand off with Real has turned ugly as the player is convinced that he has been a victim of a smear campaign with the Bernabeu side. In fact we had also cited Spanish media outlet AS who claimed that United will offer €30m plus David De Gea for Ramos. The Red Devils are also willing to double Ramos’ wage (€12m) more than what he’s asking for (€10m) at the Spanish capital.

Nicolas Otamendi

Should Ramos leave Real, Madrid based media outlet Marca have reported this morning that the Galacticos have already eyed Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi as a perfect replacement. The Argentine has a €50m release clause but Real aren’t worried about the price tag. The Argentine incidentally is also a Manchester United target.

Otamendi’s agent Eugenio Lopez has made it clear that his client wants to leave Valencia. The central defender had earlier been quoted by Sky Sports speaking to ESPN, “Valencia know very well what I want. From there, every word my agent says is obviously with my authorisation.”

The Mestalla outfit are aware of the Financial Fair Play regulations and will have to balance their books in their transfer dealings. Thus Otamendi could very well be sold in the summer.
