The summer is shaping up nicely for Chelsea. The Blues have made their first official signing today after capturing Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona and are close to completing the signing of striker Diego Costa as well.

Likewise, there could be few departures to balance the books. Chelsea have undergone a sea-change approach in their transfer policy, where they’ve sold players and made profits on new additions.

For instance, last January, they sold Juan Mata and Kevin de Bruyne and used that money to buy three players – Matic, Salah and Zouma – and still made a profit.

We can see a similar trend in this summer window as well. The club has already sold David Luiz to PSG, while senior player like Frank Lampard has been released (free up the wages) and if the reports are to be believed there could be more exodus as well.

Spanish media earlier this month claimed that Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is pondering a move for Chelsea midfielder Ramires, who is valued at €30m, as the reigning European champions find him as a cheaper alternative than the likes of Arturo Vidal or Paul Pogba.

The Times reported this morning that Chelsea are also prepared to offload the Brazilian, should Madrid include Luka Modric as a part of the deal.

Spanish newspaper Marca now reporting Madrid are determined to sign Ramires in the summer. Ancelotti signed the player during his time as a manager at Chelsea and wishes to work with him again. Madrid president Florentino Perez has given his approval and will do everything he can to sign him, no matter how expensive the deal could turn to be, but they see Mourinho as the only obstacle here.

Ramires has had an average last season for Chelsea. He is hard working and versatile, just the type of player Mourinho wants in his team. Marca says the player wants a move as well, but it is highly unlikely that Mourinho will sell him at the moment.
