Real Madrid target Ronaldo, Kaka and Metzelder
Ramon Calderon, Real Madrid’s president, has said that he’s interested in signing Ronaldo, Kaka and Metzelder for next season.
Real Madrid are being their usual selves about the whole thing, not unlike last year when they Calderon brazenly claimed that Kaka, Robben and Fabregas were on their way to Real Madrid.
This time, as always, Madrid have gone through the press, saying that everything depends upon Manchester United’s decision to sell Ronaldo and that Real Madrid would be ‘first in line’ if that were the case.
Its bullshit because Real know that Manchester United don’t plan on selling Ronaldo. Its bullshit because they know that Ronaldo has said that he would like to stay at Manchester United for many years. Its bullshit because Ronaldo and Manchester United are in contract discussions which should see Ronny sign a new 100k / week contract till 2012.
So why are Real Madrid doing this?
Quite simply, they’re being their own arrogant selves, using the media to feed the facade that is the ‘great’ Real Madrid. It’s not working, because despite Jorge Mendes’ and Calderon’s best efforts, Ronaldo and Mourinho have rejected the chance to go to Real Madrid next summer, and Milan are dead-set on blocking all attempts to sign Kaka.
Calderon:
“I would love to see both Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo play for Real Madrid next season, but it won’t be easy. Any big club would have this sort of objective and Real Madrid is a big club.”
They’re not willing to pay 50m though - maybe 40m then?
Real Madrid are also interested in signing Kaka - who would have probably gone to Real if Milan had been willing to sell him. I don’t see how Real can tempt Kaka again this season, mainly because Real have failed to improve from last season despite the new signings and the new coach.

I think your title for this article is pretty misleading, I thought I was heading to a Tribal Football page at first. Calderon hasn’t (well not in any report I’ve read anyway) asked us to sell Ronaldo, mearly that he is our player and if we where to sell him they would try and buy him.
There are somethings i don’t agree with in that article.
The thing is that Calderon was approached by reporters and was asked if Real Madrid was planing to sign Kaka and Ronaldo, so by him saying “They are great players and if they are put to sale, Real Madrid will be first in line to buy them” is the CORRECT thing to say. Calderon did not go out and shout this from the top of the Bernabeu.
For the second part, Kaka is/was actually interested in signing for Madrid because during the World Cup he had told this to Cicinho and his father who is also his agent. The reason Real Madrid went after him like that was because Kaka’s dad gave them the thumps and said that Kaka was interested but AC Milan were very reluctant to let him go, they even gave him a new contract. This is also why Calderon & Mijatovic were so persistent-
About the Jose Mourinho part, he said that “every manager would like the coach a club like Madrid BUT i’m contracted to Chelsea until 2010″ and so on. So where is the rejection? The onyl reason Mourinho was even linked with us was because he was having that feud with Abrahamovic and guess who started this rumor? The English Media.
Jorge Mendes is Ronaldo’s agent and i seriously doubt that he would be pimping him like this to the Spanish clubs without Ronaldo’s consent, it just does not make sense. Calderon is being encouraged by Mendes to go for Ronaldo and i am 100% sure that Ronaldo is aware of what is going on.
Redondo do you seriously think you have any chance in signing Ronaldo at the end of the season? I am sure Mendes and Calderon are aware Ronaldo wants to stay at United for many years. Oh and surely you can see the arrogance Madrid have which comes from the presidential elections. Last season David Gill said we would sign 2 world class players, which never materialised for whatever reasons. Many United fans think he was stupid in saying so. How can you justify Calderon saying he will DEFINETLY have Robben Kaka and Fabregas and coming away with nothing. Its the way Madrid think they’re Gods Gift and have their paper Marca manipulate as many players as possible. It is the reason why most fans outside the Bernabeu hate Madrid and wish their decline will only accelerate.
To Peter: Whether Cristiano Ronaldo signs for Real Madrid is totally irrelevant on my part because i will surely not lose sleep if it materializes or not.
I’m not justifying Calderon’s stupid presidential promises. It was obvious to most socios that it was nothing more then warm air from the beginning. Most Madrid supports don’t like Calderon as it is because of the way he dragged the clubs name through the mud since he was elected and the way he keeps running his mouth. When Florentino Perez was president we never had these problems.
We certainly do not think we are gods gift to anything but the thing is that Paper and new agency often make up stories and Madrid is in the center of this.
This is most likely how new stories are made these days: “Picks name out of a hat” Real Madrid want sign [Insert name from the hat]. It is like that everytime. We are linked with 80% of the players out there.
Ask yourself, where did this £50mill/€80mill. for Ronaldo come from? Certainly not from Madrid.
Redondo - yes, the media came into this, which is why the interview happened in the first place.
However to take that and imply that Calderon is not using the press to go after his transfer targets (the way Madrid has in the past) is a bit naive.
Yes, Kaka is interested, Milan stopped him last season and they will probably stop him again this season.
Mourinho - rejection is linked to the role Mendes plays here.
Jorge Mendes is on record as having said that he offered Ronaldo to Barcelona before the 2006 world cup but that Barca refused. Mendes is also the man who talked to one of the presidential candidates for Real Madrid and almost had Ronaldo moving to Real.
Unfortunately, he has done it, and whether it is with or without Ronaldo’s consent, that we do not know. It doesn’t make sense if you trust agents, it makes sense if you don’t trust agents. Make of it what you will.
Ummm…well, history sure is pretty, isn’t it?
Some very bitter and uninformed commentary here. Shame.
Ronaldo just go with real madrid?
