Rafa is unwise | Manchester United right to investigate Liverpool

Before discerning fans comment on the usage of ‘Liverpool‘ instead of Rafa Benitez, I want to remind them that in this case (as in most other cases) the manager represents the club and therefore Rafa’s actions and statements represent Liverpool. Feel free to disagree, but at least keep this in mind while arguing about it.

First it was the Premier League ruling in favor of Manchester United and not in Liverpool’s favor, which caused Rafa Benitez to seek conspiracy theories everywhere, including cribbing about fixtures and the apparent ‘ease’ with which Manchester United were able to sign Tevez.

Ummm, excuse me? I distinctly remember the Tevez episode as being one of the most nerve-wracking transfers in recent memory. With Javier Mascherano West Ham and MSI were both happy to have him move, so at the very least Liverpool only had to work with MSI in creating the right agreement.

In Manchester United’s case, the whole Tevez-West Ham-Sheffield United saga was in full flow at the time and West Ham were adamant not to ‘give’ the player away AND the Premier League were pushing to add more legal loopholes as well.

Rafa:

“I want to ask the Premier League why it was so difficult for Liverpool to sign Javier Mascherano, when we had to wait a long time for the paperwork, but it was so easy for Carlos Tevez to join Manchester United.”

I think Rafa’s being childish and it has a lot to do with that Styles decision and not much else. He’s on edge, and has said some things in anger that he hasn’t thought out and is definitely wrong about, and now the excessive media coverage is going to make him look bad (and subsequently, make Liverpool look bad).

Rafa’s a great tactician and one of the few who can hold their own in mind games against the likes of Jose Mourinho, but even Mourinho has been beaten by Ferguson and at the end of the day, SAF is the most experienced manager at this sort of stuff. Rafa is unwise to go into this without a clear head, and he’s only going to come out looking second best.

Good thing for Liverpool that they’re ahead in the league, eh?

Manchester United to investigate Liverpool’s rule in Heinze saga

From the start, Manchester United have been surprised at Heinze’s insistence to join Liverpool when there were other options available to him. Heinze said that he took the matter to arbitration more to prove his point that he should be free to decide his own destiny but Ferguson believes that Liverpool talked to him directly without going through Manchester United and the amount of help they provided him gives United enough reasons to want to at least investigate Liverpool’s role in the whole case.

Pool could come out clean, and they probably will, but what I can’t understand is why Liverpool pushed Heinze to go so far in a case that wasn’t theirs to win from the start? If it was a strategy to drive Heinze away from United it worked great but it has only served to make an enemy out of Sir Alex Ferguson and that is most unwise.

Rafa was referring to the speed at which the FA/Premier League processed the registration of Masch and Tevez, not how long it took to negotiate the actual transfers.

In Mascherano’s case, after the deal was agreed between Liverpool and M.S.I/West Ham, it took the FA/Premier League almost a month to process the registration.

In Tevez’ case, after the deal was agreed between Man U and M.S.I/West Ham it took 2 days…

As for the rest of your article - well, you’re entitled to your opinion, so I won’t pull you on that.

  2. August 24, 2007tony carlton

Sir alex has hated liverpool since he took over at man united, also alex can look as much as he likes he’s just bitter that heinze wanted to leave, if their was any dodgy dealings/ being tapped up then why go to the fa/prem to sort it out. if the fa/prem had a sniff of foul play they would not have touched the case….

Sir Alex should just stick to fooball which is what he dose best

  3. And how exactly did Manure manage to be so confident that Tevez would want to join them if they pushed a deal through for him? Don’t give me any of the ‘obviously he’d want to move to the bestest club in the world ever yada yada’ they tapped him up to make sure they weren’t wasting their time. Hypocritical gits.

  4. What would have been the reaction if PFL ruled against Manu? Imagine the hustle and bustle!

PFL ruled in favour of Manu because the letter handed to Heinze mentioned the transfer sum in euros and not in sterling - implying Heinze had to go outside the sterling area. Yes because when Manu buy players they pay in sterling!

Fergie is only trying to mask Manu’s false start despite the couple of EUROS spent!

And again who’s the team that won most titles? Fergie wants to beat that record - but ha ha takes time man!

  5. Shaking in me boots…..anyone who thinks that Brian Barwick of the FA …fanatical RED BTW….or Rick Parry….who helped draw up the Prem rules BTW….is gonna be scared of Slur Alex is havin a laff…have another drink Alex…then Shut the f up

  6. Benitez forgets when he says everyone is against Liverpool that for Mascherano deal Liverpool recieved special go ahead from FIFA/UEFA for the transfer as he had already played for 2 clubs that season/year. Likewise the Premier League gave “permission” for the transfer and it was bound to be lengthy.
So before he makes these allegations Benitez should look closely at Liverpools so called bad fortunes. UEFA changed their rules to allow a 5th placed team, albeit Champs League holders, to re enter the Champs league the following season - Liverpool! In future it can not happen! New rule post Liverpool.
Todays news re Evertons move to Kirby, some Everton fans have been saying that 2-3 years ago when Everton applied for planning on this exact spot they were turned down as the land was public and no development permitted, now Liverpool are allowed to build their new stadium on it!!!
I am still at a loss why UEFA, having fined United & Spurs in Europe last season for “transgressions” etc took absolutely no action against Liverpools failure to control, their fans at Athens! Which lets face it was clear rioting, jibbing into ground at expense of ticketed fans and putting sections of fans at risk of danger a la Hillsborough (strange that!)
This time last season, Scholes and Rooney were forced to serve 3 match bans for 2 innocuous yellows each in Amsterdam game. This pre season in Amsterdam Gerrard lands a clear punch on an opposition player that Benitez plays down and no action is taken. At the same time Liverpool players crowded and put referee under duress, something which in todays papers Benitez accuses all the other teams, apart from Liverpool of course, of doing!
Whilst all managers want to protect their own teams, his comments this time, so early on in season, are clearly designed to put some excuses forward early on as to why they will not win the premier league title (yes already he knows this) but they are making him look stupid, rather like Mourinhos comments of last season.
So if I were Rafa I would tend to stop bleating, they are the most favoured of all teams both within the media and by offical bodies in football.

And for gods sake if we hear of another “anfield european night” we are all going to puke< so often the atmosphere there is plastic and dead, yet trust the media scousers to keep bringing the odd noisy night up, footy fans length of britain fed up hearing of it!

As for Uniteds investigation of Heinze/Liverpools involvement, why would a United player use Liverpools solicitor to conduct his action? Coincidence… don’t think so! Its nonsense to suggest Liverpool were not involved at an early stage in speaking to Heinze, he was too keen to go there and Benitez was too cock sure that he would be coming so clearly the 2 parties were talking, without Uniteds consent, most likely through Liverpools solicitors. But just watch the lack of action by Premier League if some evidence is uncovered…its Liverpool!

  7. I thought myself how it took nearly three months for Masher to arrive on loan but Tevez is done and dusted in three weeks. The League is terrified of Slur Alex..and let’s face it, nobody taps up players more than Man Ure. Alex is just angry we’re getting back on our perch thanks to King Rafa. Tough cheese red nose !!

  8. The same Bilal, never learning huh? Tell me, was not right Benitez to question the integrity of the Premier League? Every supporter in the country (except of course the rose tinted and childlish manu supporters) will tell you how much the PFA prefers Manu. Before saying such nonsense, try to make resaerch at least.

  9. I really can’t see this so called investigation being worth the coverage its got, SAF is probably still fuming that Liverpool would try to sign Heinze and could easily be his own way to get back at them.

The fact is that taping up is something that happens in the game, you can argue as much as you like but i don’t honestly think that any top flight manager can claim to be innocent of making an ‘illegal’ approach for a player, it happens and unless your stupid enough to get caught in a hotel together thens its pretty much impossible to prove.

  10. how exactly did liverpool push heinze, they made a bid which met manures valuation and that was it. what else can you point to that isn’t speculation on your part

  11. David is trying to take out the blame from Manu and putting it on Liverpool. Tell me David, last season to name one, how many times Manu won at extra time, when the same time which for example, was to be given 3 mins, was even taken to 6 mins until united scored? Trying to say that UEFA are in our favour, tell me again, did you see what happened really in Athens, where the real blame was the same UEFA for not having control over the tickets, leaving fans with original tickets out. David should make a good research instead of talking nonsense! He also tries to take into account the champions league and Stanley park. About Champions league, did you ever hear that the defending champions do not have right to defend it? What used to happen in the past when a team won the Champions League/ Champions Cup and then did not they defend it even if they failed to qualify? And who are your sources about Stanley Park? Regarding the Mascherano deal, West Ham did not interfere, and if you see the laws of employment, Mascherano had the right to choose where he had to work, same as Heinze, which the PFA simply ignored, thus going against the rules. When it came to Tevez though, although West Ham objected, they gave the right to the player, citing that the player has the right to choose. So why not with Heinze? Make a favour to yourself David, and stop acting like a clown.

  12. If anyone is guilty of tapping up, it is man utd:

Arjen Robben was brought over from PSV to view their training facilities without the knowledge of his club, and then a derisory offer of around 4 million was made. He moved to Chelsea who paid the 13 million or so that his talent demanded.

This was not the first time they had tapped up a PSV player. Van Nistelrooij broke his leg and Fergie kept in contact with him, building up goodwill with the player (destroyed, years later) so that he would not think of signing any other club.

Even before that Stam had admitted in his autobiography of being tapped up by Fergie. A move that led to him being thrown out of the club he wanted to play for. And Fergie’s agent son touting him around Europe as a player available for transfer while he was having a new kitchen installed in his Cheshire home - hardly a sign of a player wanting to leave.

The situation of Fergie’s agent son - surely a conflict of interest; nepotism if nothing else? And because the BBC revealed the truth, Fergie acts like a spoilt child and refuses to give interviews on Match of the Day. Man Utd have still never explained why an unrelated agent based in Monaco was allowed to give “evidence” so that Tim Howard could get a work permit that he was not eligible for. There were payments made to this agent for this “work”.

Man utd always get favouritism when signing players ineligible for a work permit. Mark Gonzalez (Liverpool) and Bobby Convey (Spurs) were two who had to wait at least a year to get a work permit, while man utd managed to get with no fuss at all, the most recent case being Anderson, who has not played enough games for Brasil. He was so poor in the Copa America, he was substituted in the 2nd game and never brought back in. Yet a man utd appeal got him a work permit very easily.

Something is rotten in the state of the Premier League.

An aside: after the Munich crash in the late 50s, the first club to offer Man Utd help was Liverpool. They offered help in the form of money or players on loan.

  13. right on,john!i think man u r rotten not 2 let heinze dcide his own future.they dnt care about the player, just about their pride. SAF’s now trying to make it seem like gaby was pushed into trying to go to liverpool. bloody hell! its obvious gaby really wanted lfc,and SAF should stop blaming it on gaby’s agents.oh, and liverpool too!and he should leave rafa alone.everyone’s entitled to a rant &rave now&then!he shouldnt be compared to moaninho coz unlike with mr.moan, its not a perpetual thing with rafa. as for rafa being unhappy about the chelsea game, he had every right to be,whereas with moaninho, every time they lose or a dcision goes against him he has gripes.no, no-one can compare to moaninho,&im sure even the mancs wil agree!p.s.doesnt any1 think lampard had a bloody cheek to celebr8 his penalty the way he did?as for malouda,he better stop doing the robben if he doesnt want to b hated by evry club xcept his own,&not just coz he’s a dangerous player!mourinho,u were saying chelsea r pure&naive&have no divers!what a hoot!the perfct reply wd b 2 show him a replay of a certain incidnt in which reina got sent of against them.tho ther are a billion2 choose from, dat 1 stil takes da cake.back to the orignal topic, manure should lay of liverpool &concentrate on geting their1st goal of the season!personaly i think theyre scared that lfc’s gonna dliver this season.p.s. theyr jealous that WE got torres when theyve been trying for him since the WC!sorry,Man.U cant hav evrything!and even though u might think so,not evry1 is dying for u!best luck 2 lfc!cmon, lets teach these pompous,ful-of-themselves,think-the-universe-belongs-to-them, manics a lesson!ynwa

Ahmed, so your premise for writing this post is that Sir Alex Ferguson is the Darth Vader of the Premier and lesser mortals should do well to fear treading on his excellence’s proximity?

Heinze wanted to leave. Liverpool were prepared to pay the quoted fee. Heinze knew Liverpool met his proposal, most likely spoke to Mascherano during the summer’s Copa America, and made his mind up that he wanted to join Liverpool. Sir Alex Ferguson, clinging to an outdated, stupid and basically immature notion of rivalry between the two clubs, decided to resist a movie that was otherwise of value for all interested parties, simply because it was Liverpool?

The clubs are indeed fierce rivals, but a player who is surplus to requirements should be allowed to go wherever he wants. For recent examples, see Javier Saviola, Figo, Luis Enrique et al who’ve moved between Barca and Real Madrid. Or Clarence Seedorf, Filippo Inzaghi, Christian Vieri et al who’ve crossed over to the other side of Milan’s two giants.

To put this in context, let’s take an example from the other side of the fence. In the spring Benitez let it be known that Djibril Cisse was for sale for a certain price. For two months, nobody was willing to meet that price but in the end his favoured club, Marseille, caved in and paid the piper. If United had come in with a straight cash offer of the requested fee for the player, do you honestly think Benitez would have been stupid, immature and stubborn enough to say no just because it was United? Of course not.

If Rafa or Liverpool are guitly of wrongdoing, and I don’t suspect they are, it’ll come out eventually but until then the facts speak for themselves: United wanted money for Heinze, Heinze wanted to leave for Liverpool, Liverpool were prepared to pay the asking price, and yet Ferguson said “no”, because crips ‘n bloods don’t do business together.

Sir Alex is unwise. Manchester United are indeed right to investigate Liverpool and will most likely find a clear conscience resting by the river Mersey. But the truth will remain that it was Sir Alex who acted in a way that belied his old age and experience. And don’t for a second think that Manchester United’s reputation as a great, noble and player-friendly club hasn’t been tarnished as a result.

Why is it so mortally dangereous to anger the great SAF? Pool made an offer for Heinze which was sound financially, and with the player was also interested, it shouldnt have been such a big issue.

  19. August 25, 2007iqnadirshah

Ronnie, the days of the Munich crash are long gone. Those were the glory days of Busby, Shankly and Jock Stein, men who were honest, who respected each other, lived for the game, had principles and stood by them.Bad mouthing other teams and managers were quite rare in those days. Managers like them are an extinct species. Sir Alex definitley doesnt qualify as one of them and neither does Mourinho. Rafa and Wenger may be like them but that’s still a ‘maybe’. Sorry if I’ve offended manu and chelsea fans………….

  20. RONNIE,no sorry not worth a reply,
cos u have no knowledge at all ,
1;psv hid a report about his dodgy knee ,so bid £5m
2; psv gave permission to fergie 2 keep in touch with van n
3;stam was sold after he screamed in fergies face @ half time in (1st game)fulham.after saha scored within 5 mins of each half!!
    4;regaurding his son,it’s a common thing,which tells me u dont have kids.
5; howard, dont know,( but i admit i dont know about this, hands up.pity u r a lesser man or kid)
6;anderson,like arsenal, got a visa as a special talent,ie 2 young to have 75% full games ,but has 90% in last 2 years @u21’s,gonzales is & will never be a special talent,by the way did u not sell him after he came for 1 year?point proved
you was robbed against chelski, dont like to see that happen to anyone,& yes i think hienze should be have been allowed to go where he chooses, cos the way he threw his dolly out of his pram ,cos he didnt want 2 fight for his place, showed he wasnt good enough, which was proven since evra was injured from march,he nearly cost us the league,he was a liabilty.
    count ur lucky stars,
but i hope we have to play real in champs lge this year,CR7 will get a chance to embarras him like he did in training , hienzes own words

My, my, my! Grammar shocking, spelling atrocious, language disgusting.

Typical uneducated Scouse responses when confronted with the truth. The saying that “The truth hurts” is obviously true in this case promopted by the original posting, obviously written by a very astute scribe, knowing full well that the Liverpool trash, oops sorry I meant ‘fish’ would bite. Come in Spinner!

Another truth that has not emerged is that the fastest growing language apart from foul, on Merseyside, is SPANISH!

    Que sera Scousers, que sera

  22. dj :

As you like to address the points:

1: The problem is not the bid amount (indeed, Chelsea came up with a much better bid) but the tapping up by taking him on tour of Carrington and Old Trafford without his club’s permission. The top guy at PSV was in the Dutch papers moaning about all the tapping up Man Utd have done to his team.

2: PSV did not give permission to keep in touch with the player, maybe with the club. They were also unhappy about it and this was cited in the complaints about Robben’s tapping up.

3: Fergie was unhappy with Stam’s autobiography, the Fulham game did not help, and may well have contributed. Saha did play well in that game (and Man Utd really need him fit for their system to be devastating as witnessed at the start of last season).

4: Fergie’s son was the agent that Man Utd / Fergie encouraged their younger players to sign up with. If that’s not a conflict of interest - what is? If it’s a common thing (and we saw what happened with Sam Allardyce’s son), it does not make it right. Fergie’s son now does no direct dealings with Man Utd, so perhaps there was something wrong?

5: Personal insinuations do not address this matter.

6: Arsenal had a stronger case due to Eduardo “Dudu” Silva being a regular first choice for Croatia, as well as being far and away the top scorer in their domestic league. For anyone who saw the Croatia-England game, his talents were there to see. An equivalent (?) English striker would cost so much more, eg. Darren Bent at £16.5 million.

Anderson is possibly a Brasilian international of the future, but is unlikely to play the required 70% of games over the preceding (or even coming) 2 year period in serious games, where the likes of Kaka and Ronaldinho will bar his way, being by far the superior players - indeed, Kaka is probably the best attacking player in the world.

A few years ago, Chelsea had problems getting defender Alex a work permit and had to loan him out to PSV for a few years until he could qualify. He had a much better case than Anderson but was turned down for a work permit.

Similarly, Mark Gonzalez who kept up Real Sociedad the season before last (sadly, they were relegated for the first time in 40 years and are now managed by Chris Coleman on a shoe-string budget) also had problems. He was dynamic and a goalscorer for La Real, and perhaps his style is more suited to La Liga. However, he is a regular for Chile and acknowledged to be their best player. Gonzalez’s injuries limited his appearances for his country which led to him not meeting the work permit criteria, a fact that still did not get him a work permit.

Compare to Dong Fangzhou who was parked in a Belgium feeder club until he could meet the work permit criteria. This is what should have happened to Anderson. It may have been to Man Utd’s benefit too, as having seen him play in Portugal, he wasn’t too impressive. Perhaps he can learn from Scholes before he retires, but the only similarity to Ronaldinho is that they are from the same town. They are completely different players.

Thanks for assuming which team I support. I am a fan of football and watch many leagues and teams and I prefer fairness to all of this pettiness. Fergie coming out and accusing another team of tapping up when he has done it many times smacks of idiocy. Why did he not ask Chelsea to be investigated for tapping up Rio Ferdinand a few years ago ? Arsenal did with the Ashley Cole saga, and Spurs did with the Frank Arneson case.

Barcelona look to be the strongest team for Europe this year, strengthening their weak points at the back as well as adding Henry to give competition to the likes of Ronaldinho and Eto’o. If it works, they will be the best team in Spain and Europe again. If not, they will be like Arsenal, playing the best football, but not getting the results.

  23. half of the time taken for mash deal to go through is as Mash has played for 2 clubs. FIFA allow mash to join liverpool on Jan 31, after which premier league need to go through Mash Ownership which they pass it on 10 Feb 2007.

take out the FIFA time period as its was over the case of Mash having already played for 2 clubs. the actual time premier league go through Mash ownership is from 31st jan to 10 feb, assuming they work on weekend and after FIFA allow liverpool to sign.

tevez deal dragged much longer than that period of time.

  24. Its just funny that one of your heroes wants to join us. He played for you, you adored him, then he decided to leave for a better life in liverpool. Shame it never happened but I am pretty sure every liverpool fan smiles when they think about him f*ck u off for us:)

  25. August 26, 2007Brian the Red

Better life in Liverpool! You have to be kidding! If he wanted a better life than he had in Manchester, adored by United fans, supported to the inth degree by Manchester United management when he was seriously injured and out of the game for a protracted period of time, getting full pay.

I am not saying he was being disloyal, one has to get the best they can out of the game, even though it is in reality the fans who pay their wages not the club.

Now the ‘obvious’ attempt to circumvent the F.A rules and attempt to con Manchester United in the uptake, it emerges that Crystal Palace were ‘approached’ to but Heinze and then onsell him to Liverpool. Ala West Ham United onselling Mascherano to Liverpool. Ummmm something really stinks with Liverpool and it is not just the Mersey.

Thank heavens Liverpool has another club that ‘honest’ football supporters can go to watch, Everton.

I believe we, as mere football supporters and patrons of fine clubs, will never know the true extent of the underhand attempts by Liverpool F.C,to not only breach F.A & Premier League rules, but attempt to involve a less affluent club, Crystal Palace,in their impious design and subversive plot to undermine their more illustrious opponents in the Premier League.

If the F.A find through their investigations that Liverpool did attempt, as claimed in the attached article, they should receive a like punishment to Juventus and be relegated.

Quote from the Daily Mail article:

Palace in £1m plot to help Heinze join Liverpool
EXCLUSIVE By BOB CASS on 25th August 2007

Crystal Palace were offered an astonishing ‘commission’, thought to be around £1 million, to act as a go-between in an elaborately conceived transfer plot to get Gabriel Heinze from Manchester United to Liverpool.

And now United are demanding that the Football Association investigate Liverpool’s role in the affair, which is turning out to be a dramatic follow-up of the Argentine’s £8m move to Real Madrid last Thursday.

The plan, allegedly thought up by Heinze’s representatives, called for Palace to buy the player from United then sell him on to Liverpool.

It foundered when the London club refused to cooperate and, instead, made both Manchester United and the Premier League aware of the approach.

Palace chief executive Phil Alexander subsequently gave evidence about both the contact and the proposed financial incentive, made by a lawyer named Richard Green purporting to be acting on behalf of Heinze’s agents, to the Premier League tribunal who decided to uphold United’s stance in refusing to sell the defender to their Merseyside rivals.

‘I presented evidence about the approach to the Premier League and to Manchester United. It was up to the League to interpret it as they saw fit,’ said Alexander, who also insisted the contact came completely out of the blue without any possible prior inclination that Palace might be willing to co-operate in the matter.

Although Heinze’s representative Roberto Rodriguez insisted he knew nothing about the approach to Palace, the two-man commission of Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards and Peter McCormack, a solicitor and former Leeds United director, threw out the South American’s claims and backed Alexander’s version of what happened, making it a major factor in their decision.

Now the Premier League are piecing together a dossier containing all the details about the attempt to involve Palace and will present it to the FA.

    Umm.

Brian the Red???? Why doesn’t a mancs comments about scousers having very little brains suprise me :) ?

Well considering this is a blog not a fucking speech we can use all the bad grammer we want listen :)

ur on da skint hore lik fuk cutty :) lots of mistakes OMG how worser can dis get?

  27. August 27, 2007Brian the Red

Answering LIVERPOOL_FAN in particular. I do so in point form for simplicity.

    1. Not a Manc. I was born: (a) in Blackpool, (b) Long enough ago to be your unknown father :) (c) I was brought up in a harder place than Liverpool, SALFORD and finally (d) I live in Australia!

    2. Speech? I though it was a response to some idiotic and brainless Scouse diatribe, spelling etc.

I personally find your foul language paticularly offensive and moreso as kids do read this blog. Such language should either be edited out or erased by the site moderator.

    3. Not much from a paticularly uneducated, uncouth Scouse brain!

My suggestion, GET A LIFE and get a good team to support, by support I mean financially by attending matches, not just following a team through the media!

    Brian the Red

  28. August 27, 2007Liverpool_Fan

How do i just follow liverpool by media? i go to about 5 matches a year my friends go to more though but i can’t change that :)

I only used one curse word sue me :) my unknown father? considering i was born in and raised here id seriuosly doubt that but thanks for your concern :)

and tell me what teams do you find acceptable to support?? because i think Ranked third in europe and won the competition its self 5 times i dont think its too bad :)

  29. Brian the Red i fail to see the point in virtual all of your comments.

    1. You start by disregarding all other responses because they are ‘Typical uneducated Scouse responses…’ and are aggressive to what you perceive as ‘Liverpool trash…’ and then seem surprised that people are going to respond in a negative way.

    2. In the only relevant comment by you on this topic you state that Liverpool have obviously attempted to circumvent FA rules based on one article in The Daily Mail. A newspaper that have previously had to make a number of retractions and have been successfully sued for libel by the fiancé of a certain Man U player.
At the moment there is no proof that this story is correct and that any proposal was instigated by Liverpool. Its interesting to note that so far no other news agencies have picked up this story. I also think that both Liverpool and the player would have to be incredibly stupid to not realise that a transfer of this nature would be subject to intense scrutiny and investigation.
You also state ‘…they should receive a like punishment to Juventus and be relegated…’ the punishment if the story was true would be a fine and the possibility of a points penalty as per the last proven case of tapping up in the premiership.

    3. How does growing up ‘…in a harder place than liverpool…’ have any relevance other than to your own ego. I would also argue that it is personal circumstance rather than where you live that have an effect on how you are brought up and how can tell that one place is harder than the other without living in both!

    4. Your final comment of ‘My suggestion, GET A LIFE and get a good team to support, by support I mean financially by attending matches…’ I’m surprised that you don’t realise that most football fans support their team for the rest their life, I don’t know of anyone who has switched allegiance because they don’t support ‘a good team’ if this was the case then the majority of football stadiums would probably be empty.
I also fail to see the relevance of having to attend matches to financially support, just by buying the replica kits we are financially support our teams. Also for the vast majority of fans traveling to and attending matches is a very expensive trip that not everyone can do this week in and week out, though i’m sure you always travel from Australia to Old Trafford on a regular basis.

  30. Chris: I do not need to insult you after your comment about my ‘plethora of spelling errors’. The first part of your post does a pretty good job already! By the way, I hope that you will be pleased to see that my spelling has improved quite a bit. I do not claim to be perfect, though, so please feel free to spell-check this post and any future ones, and post the corrections of any words spelt (or is it ’spelled’? I don’t know! Could you help me out, please?) incorrectly. Or better yet, seeing as how I’m a stupid twelve-year-old, perhaps you could tutor me in English and help me to improve my grades. I mean, we can all see how spelling is not the only part of English that you’re exceptionally good at! Please let me know; I pay well! I mean, my parents pay well!

  31. David, regarding your comment about ‘Anfield European nights’, could it possibly be that you’re just, dare I say it, sour grapes?

Butt out. This was a slagging match between 2 persons having a good old fashioned dig.

I sure do travel to O.T regularly, more often in fact than you visit Anfield, as evidenced by the staps in my passport, oh and I am a fully paid up member and when unable to get to O.T I watch ALL games on United T.V. :)

I’m afraid you are just a frustrated follower albeit of a fine team. Yes I did say a fine team and I refer to Liverpool.

I do not possess any such thing as an ego, I don’t need one, I just enjoy ‘baiting’ the hook and watching ‘fish’ take the bait. I never realised there were so many fish willing to leap at an obvious bait.

    Score 2-0.

Brian B States: “i fail to see the point in virtual all of your comments”

Because it would take intelligence. Read, digest and remove the blinkers!

Ummmmmm, ignorance predominates where vulgarity usually exceeds itself.

  34. a little slanging match never hurt anyone :)
  35. Butt out! I was responding to all the comments made not specifically those between you and Liverpool_Fan, as should be obvious from my last post. As for it being ‘a slagging match between 2 persons having a good old fashioned dig’ I don’t see how comments of ‘Liverpool trash’ can be specifically applied to one person when Liverpool’s population is somewhat greater than 1.

My response was aimed to point out the flaws in your arguments especially the comment over the article in the Daily Mail, its unfortunate that again your only response is to question other people’s intelligence just like you have with the majority of the other comments posted here. I’d be more than happy to read why you think it is obvious that Liverpool are guilty of tapping up and how this can be proved.

BTW one final point I’d like to make is that i do agree with the author that Rafa would have been better off keeping his mouth shut. It doesn’t do any manager good complaining about situations that can’t be changed and until now Rafa has usually managed to avoid this.
