Paris St-Germain have agreed a fee with Newcastle for the transfer of French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, with the price set to exceed the £20m mark.

The Premier League side rejected a £14m bid from the French Champions for Cabaye a few days ago, but it has been widely reported that PSG have now agreed a deal for the 28-year-old.

Cabaye, who joined the Tyneside club for £4.3m in 2011, has been in excellent form recently, scoring seven and assisting four in the Premier League this season.

His performances have caught the eye of PSG, and the mega-rich French outfit are now closing in on their man at the second attempt.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew had previously expressed his doubts that the club could retain the services of the all-action midfielder beyond the end of the month,

“No, I’m not confident (that we can keep him),” Pardew said,

“I don’t think any team not in a Champions League position or fighting for a Champions League spot could be.”

Cabaye now looks to have played his last game for Newcastle, as he will reportedly fly out tomorrow for a medical, with the deal set to be completed within the week.

What do you think? Is Cabaye worth over £20m? Let me know in the comments below…
