I met of a young lad who recently had a car accident and is now paralysised from the neck down with very limited movement. He played at amateur level for several years around the Cheltenham area. He would like to return to work and i was wondering if the is any financially support he could apply for?

I am making a film which touches on the life of Coventry FC footballer Danny Thomas and really need to make contact with him over life rights. Does anybody know how I can speak to him or get him to contact me? There is a contract on the table for him which includes percentage rights on the profits in this film. I’ll be a huge shame if we can’t involve Danny. Tony

as a matter of interest i would like to know – how many proffesional players are now unemployed in the english premiership upto date please – i asked this question at work and it seems to be quite an interesting question as to this. Please can you submit a list if possible (english players only) Thank you.

The PFA seem to do a pretty good job generally. I’m not sure that Stan Collymore, fine player that he was, can be used as an example for anything!

Marco – I presume you did the pictures? :p They are absolutely superb, so thanks for that!

The more I think about it, the more I feel that the PFA is an excellent institution and that we are lucky to have websites such as those of the PFA, FA and Premier League, which offer us extensive interviews and information. Comparative resources here in Spain don’t really exist.

Excellent piece. It’ all too often forgotten how many footballers there are outside of the Premiership and the wages they earn. A few years ago, while in a rather low-paid job, I was shocked to learn I was earning more than a couple of footballers I got chatting to.

Another friend of mine told me about the time he was temping at a data entry place and was asked to train up a new temp. This new temp had just been released from the local club – the season before my friend had been singing his name on the terraces when the kid broke through into the first team as an exciting 19-year-old prospect.

The PFA can only do so much – the clubs (their adopted families) have a responsibility as well (and to be honest, many of them do help a great deal)
