Nobody gave those teams much of a chance of surviving either, mostly based on the fact that they had much (if any) of a pedigree. The fact is, 50% of all teams who get into the Premier League DON’T go straight back down and it’s simply the lazy of mind and the arrogant who bleat on about “doing a Derby”.
