Ahmed, I think it could be implemented now. The NHL just implemented one a few years ago. Ditto all of the American sports that have them. Granted, it’s more complicated given the internation nature of football, but it could be done.

Graham, how do you feel about a salary cap? I see it as the only realistic way going forward. It has worked well for the major leagues here in the States. Given the international nature of football I think FIFA would have to be involved (groan) but it seems the only way to make the leagues sustainable.

Interesting article, and extremely well written. Another good one, Graham. It is strange and funny to see how clubs will go into the red, and practically bankrupt themselves in an effort to win at the moment, even though they know that in the long run it will be detrimental to success.
