Liverpool will take on Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday night, looking to close the gap with league leaders Chelsea at the top.

The Reds manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that his team is going in the right direction, but refused to admit that his side are genuine Premier League title challengers.

Luis Suarez

While defence still remains a pesky issue for Rodgers, he will be buoyed with the attacking strength of his side. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge have scored 47 goals combined, with the Uruguayan leading the goal scoring charts with 28 goals so far.

Liverpool’s home form has been terrific over the last few months, with the Reds unbeaten in last 11 home matches, winning 10 of them.

The home side has no major injury issues, and Rodgers could continue with the same side that defeated Cardiff City 6-3 on Saturday, though Mamadou Sakho and Raheem Sterling could replace Daniel Agger and Coutinho.

Prediction: 3-0; Liverpool are undefeated in their last 11 home matches against Sunderland in all competitions, so expect a comfortable home win for the Merseyside giants.
