Possible Chelsea Starting XI Against Schalke

Chelsea have traveled to Germany to face Group E leader Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Tuesday night, where manager Jose Mourinho will be looking to earn back-to-back victories in the competition.

The Blues will miss the services of left-back Ashley Cole yet again. The defender had trained with the team on Monday morning but Mourinho refused to take the risk of including him in the squad. In his place, Ryan Bertrand will deputize on the left-back role. Mourinho confirmed that Terry will play for this tie but will make a decision between David Luiz and Cahill.

In the last game John Obi Mikel was not included in the squad but against an attacking Schalke 04 side, he would need a steady defensive midfielder. Hence, expect Nigerian star Mikel to start alongside Brazil international Ramires.

Andre Schurrle has traveled with the Chelsea squad but Mourinho could use his best three attacking midfielders – Hazard, Oscar and Mata for this game. Or else, Brazilian Willian could be given a chance too.

The Portuguese spoke highly of Samuel Eto’o yesterday in the press conference but he will be relying on Spaniard Fernando Torres to do the job for him.
