How can Portsmouth improve this summer?
As part of our 2006/2007 Premiership season-end review, here’s a look at how Portsmouth’s season went. Read up, then offer your own advice on how Portsmouth can improve this summer.
- Pre-season expectations: Barely escaping relegation, Portsmouth were looking at consolidating this season and making a move towards stability - however Harry Redknapp’s signings (James, Campbell) suggested that Portsmouth just may do better than people expected them to.
- Season evaluation: Portsmouth exceeded all expectations (only Reading have done better on a relative scale) with their 9th place - although at one time they were looking at a top-6 finish.
- The Big Negative: Hard to find a negative point here, but one weakness that Redknapp must address is to replace his older players in the next couple of seasons if Portsmouth are to move forward.
- The Big Positive: Portsmouth have the money to back their manager, which means that they can go ahead and bring in quality players to help the club challenge for a European spot next season.
- Summer Priority: Bring in at least 3 quality players - one each in defense, central midfield and attack.
Now it’s your turn: How do you think Portsmouth can improve this summer?

Streamline, im gonig to get negative reviews here but at the end of the day kanu…. Now i know everyone wants him to stay but hes shot his bolt dont get me wrong i do rate the guy considering his age and what not but this is my only problem with ‘arry he invests too much in older players which is fine you need those experienced heads on the pitch but ya have to look at other options up front toddy for example hes never going to break into pack so why keep i know you need those fringe players but c’mon bring back the yak
I think we need two pacy strikers in addition to Kanu and Benji. A creative right-winger is a must as well and I’d quite like us to sign a specialist left-back instead of having players like Hreidarsson, Stef and Traore having to fill in there
I agree with you Will, Kanu just wasnt good enough for us towards the end of the season. We desperately need to bring in a real quality Striker to replace him and Lua Lua. Muntari will be a quality signing for us, and showing evreyone we mean business this season.
