I think with Beckham and the MLS the question u need to ask is whether one player can be bigger than a whole league, let alone the club.

Is that supposed to state Tevez wasn’t getting playing time at West Ham? Good article, reminds me of Joey Barton, and Pierre Van Hooijdonk at Forest just under a decade ago.

Villa is still 25 and Gerrard is 27 and playing better than ever i dont think they coming to the peak is a reasonable excuse for them.

I think When Gerrard was younger he was Greedy and i think David Villa is also Greedy.

Some players (Beckham) dont research the history dont care what the fans think. The only reason the play out of their skin is to get a big juicey bonus.

Some players (Drogba) like to perform well to see their name in lights its about them even if they are passionate they arent doing it for the team.

Some players (Gerrard and Terry) will play for a club their passionate for. They will cry when they lose and shout their heads off when they win.

So Yeh loads of players are doing it for the name on the back (barcelona players in particular) there are still those who play for a club for 10 years and who know the club is big but the player can never be bigger.

I don’t think players usually *think* of themselves as being bigger than the clubs they’re playing for – it’s the media that builds them up.
