Peter Crouch - scissor kick goal video (Liverpool 3-2 Galatasaray)

Liverpool will not win the Champions League this season.

Liverpool won’t win the Premiership this season.

But in one magical moment Peter Crouch assured that Liverpool will always be capable of creating that little bit of magic that the Kop’s atmosphere has always hinted at, that Liverpool’s heritage has always demanded, that the Liverpool fans have always expected.

It is easy to get carried away by a move that looks perfect because it was a 1-in-10,000 shot that Crouch managed to pull off flawlessly.

And yes, one goal does not change who Peter Crouch is - an industrious, hard-working striker who has made the most of his limited abilities and whose strength lies in his willingness to keep trying. He has made horrible misses, and will keep missing chances in the future.

But he will also keep putting them away, and this goal is just reward for his hard work. Liverpool are lucky to have him, and so are England.

Oh, and don’t forget Finnan’s contribution - in comparison to it, Crouch just had to show up :)

  1. Seriously mate, I get the impression you don’t like Peter Crouch, I imagine you have never played football to a good level. I’m an ex proffessional footballer, and used to play alongside Peter. I retired through injury at 24, and played alongside public heroes such as Clayton Blackmore and Steven Gerrard, so I don’t have a limited view, however Peter is one of the most talented players I’ve ever played with. A natural footballer. Admittedly the lad is not the typical looking footballer, but watch him train and you see amazing skill and talent. Watch him play and you see much more than a striker. Your prejudice bemuses me, and I have no doubt that you’re opinion was originally he should never played for England, and now you think he should. Calculate his shot to goal ratio and you’ll find he hasn’t missed chance after chance but has one of the best shot ratio’s in the country, unlike other high profile strikers who you probably adore. You make statements that are undeniably unfactual and glossed by adjectives. Peter Crouch is a great England player, and a very talented footballer. And he’s taller than you and you don’t like it.

And may i add, he probably is much more well endowed then you ahmed :-). Seriously though, if you look at the goals he has scored this season, he has done the full repotoire- headers, volleys, overhead kicks, half volleys, first time strikes, tap ins, and curled them in past the keeper. He has absolutely nothing to prove to anybody. He can only score against the opposition put in front of him and has done the job very well when called upon. He has scored in a world cup and now the champions leauge. My final point is , he also comes across as a genuinely nice bloke. Give the guy a break!

  3. Erm…isn’t his goals to games ratio for England better than any other of our strikers?
This surely means he’s the best we’ve got doesn’t it?

I’ve seen enough to know his ability can hardly be called limited. Unless of course you’re being ‘tallist’ (when you’re 5′7″ like me most people are tall!)

  4. crouch gamed neek
