Ronaldo would have been too scared to play against the Italian sides of the 70s and 80s. Had he done so, he probably would have ended up crippled. Even Maradona, who I rate as the best I personally ever saw, could not manage to make any impact whatsoever against Claudio Gentile. (Gentile, who would be banned today was nevertheless the most formidable man-marker of his day.) I've got a library of over 300 classic World Cup, European and South American games.
