Chelsea midfielder: Mourinho phone call sealed move, Manchester United wasted time

Chelsea Injury News

Spanish midfielder Pedro has admitted that a phone conversation between him and Jose Mourinho sealed his move to Chelsea from Barcelona earlier in the summer. Manchester United were also linked with the former Barcelona winger but it was the Blues from London who sealed a £21.1m deal for the 28 year old.

According to reports from the trusted and reliable Gianluca Di Marzio website from Italy, Pedro has opened up about his difficult move from Barcelona to the reigning Premier League Champions.

On being asked between his conversation and Mourinho, Pedro said, “He gave me confidence by talking about the important role I would have on the team. I thought London could be a good option for my family. Mourinho changes when you talk face to face. When you’re part of his team, he treats you like a family member. He has great character and mentality, this is important

Pedro has already made an impressive start in the Premier League having scored on his debut against West Brom which saw the London side scrape through the Baggies by a 3-2 score line. The player also provided the assist for Radamel Falcao’s goal against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge last weekend but Chelsea lost the game by 2-1, which added further misery on their poor start to the season.

Regarding United’s intentions to sign him, Pedro claimed that the Red Devils were wasting time before coming to a concrete decision. As reports from the Guardian reveal, the former Barcelona man has also revealed that he didn’t like Louis Van Gaal’s treatment of former team-mate Victor Valdes at Old Trafford. Valdes had earlier been stripped of a squad number after refusing to play for the Under-21 side last season.

Pedro said, “It’s true that I don’t like that treatment for my colleagues, especially for Victor, who has been a reference as a team-mate and as a professional.” However he was quick to reassert the fact that he joined Chelsea not to avoid Van Gaal but that the Stamford Bridge outfit were far more clinical in striking a deal.
