The 2015 summer transfer window has seen fans of the top clubs across in England end in disappointment with the business their respective clubs have done, unless you support Manchester City.
Chelsea failed to sign John Stones and Paul Pogba, while Manchester United have failed to strengthen their central defending position and also bring in a world-class attacker.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger refused to sign an outfield player and their track record in the recently concluded window is much worse than Barcelona, who have signed players despite their transfer ban (players signed cannot play until ban is lifted).
Real Madrid failed to land their prime target David de Gea after the deal fell through in the closing stages of the transfer window in Spain. United goalkeeper, who has one year left on his contract will continue with Louis van Gaal’s side.
One player who has been linked with almost every top clubs across Europe is Pogba. The French international joined Juventus after leaving Old Trafford in 2012 and since then has won the Serie A every year in a row.
Starting from his former club United, along with their derby rivals Manchester City, league rivals Chelsea, Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, European giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are all linked with Pogba.
The Spanish capital club distanced them away from any possibility of signing Pogba after they released a statement saying Real are not interested in signing the midfielder. Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claims the above mentioned clubs, excluding Real are all keen to sign him.
Earlier in the transfer window, Chelsea made a mammoth bid in signing the French international. However, Juventus rejected the Premier League champions’ approach for their star player.
Pogba in general is not keen on returning to Manchester as he is not happy with the life in that city. This means the former United man will only return to England if he joins London club, which at this point of time is Chelsea.
The only two clubs remaining are PSG and Barcelona. The French club have funds at their disposal, while a move to Camp Nou could see him play alongside world class players, which can also be possible with the Ligue 1 outfit.
However, Pogba has set his sights on playing in a team with Lionel Messi and his chances of winning silverware increases when playing with the Argentine international. He is joined by South American duo of Luis Suarez and Neymar.
Mundo Deportivo claims Barcelona will make a bid in securing the services of Pogba next summer. Despite interest from other top European clubs, the Serie A star player is all set to join the Champions League winners next summer.
It was evident that Pogba was going to stay with the Turin club, especially after Arturo Vidal’s departure to Bayern Munich. The Chilean star and the 22-year-old, along with Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo were instrumental in Juventus’ midfield over the last few years.
With Pirlo leaving the Old Lady and Vidal joining the Bundesliga giants, Pogba’s future was secured at Juventus. However, it is only for a short period of time as Barcelona will come with a mammoth bid for the player next summer, as their transfer ban will also be lifted at the start of the next calendar year.
With Real Madrid categorically denying their interest and Pogba not keen on returning to Manchester (which rules out both United and City), Chelsea, PSG and Barcelona are the only possible options as these are the six clubs who can afford his transfer fee.
With the Frenchman’s desire to play alongside Messi, a move to Barcelona next summer is on the cards. The only way both Chelsea and PSG can fight for his signature is if they outbid.
Time alone will tell where Pogba will end up next summer or will he still be Juventus player this time next year. One has to just wait, but at this moment of time, the treble winners are the firm favourites for his signature.
