Louis van Gaal on his first press conference insisted that he will take a close look on the existing players, before making incursions in the transfer market or perform the necessary cull. It seems like he will not get the chance to take a look at Patrice Evra, as the French defender is all set to leave Manchester United, ending a glorious nine year relationship with the Old Trafford club.

The 33-year-old was linked heavily with a move to the Turin giants but the shock departure of Antonio Conte had put a dark cloud on the transfer. However, Italian media reports that Evra is all set to complete his move and could be officially announced on Saturday.

Evra’s future was speculated well in the media, with reports even suggested that his wife doesn’t want to stay at Manchester, but at the same time there was a growing feeling that following the departures of few senior players at the club, Louis van Gaal would need a leader to steady the ship and might force him to stay. He could have acted as a mentor for young left-back Luke Shaw, who joined United this summer for Southampton.

May be the Frenchman feels that time is right for him to jump the ship as he is approaching the apogee of his career and may not get another chance to represent a big club. Sky Italia claim that Evra is now all set to join Juventus, while official announcement could be completed as early as Saturday.
