Ole Gunnar Solskjaer takes up first Manchester United coaching gig

Manchester United hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took on his first coaching job yesterday as he led the club’s reserve-team in a friendly against Sporting Lisbon.
The 34-year-old has not yet been given an official job title at Manchester United, but he is to work closely with technical skills development coach Rene Meulensteen, with particular emphasis on coaching strikers throughout Manchester United’s ranks.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told ManUtd.com: “This is an ideal trip for Ole to come along and get involved with the coaching side of the game.”
Ole led the warm up and took charge of a strong Manchester United reserves team including Tom Heaton, Dong Fangzhuo, Lee Martin, and Darron Gibson against a Sporting Lisbon team made up of first- and second-year Academy scholars.
I am so proud of Ole right now - it’s a bit of a shame that Rossi left because he would have learned a lot from him. On the other hand, players like Dong Fangzhou, Frazier Campbell and that young striker we have who’s scored lots at youth level…dammit I forgot his name…are all going to be needed by Manchester United this season and could use Ole’s experience a lot.
Also, heard that Quieroz has softly pimped himself out to other clubs as his contract expires in 2008. I know that he has an excellent rapport with the players and that he is a very good coach, but I for one want some change at Manchester United, so I’d rather have someone else succeed Fergie.

Hopefully Brandy gets a shot in the Carling Cup, Dong and Frazier will be up there first, but from what little I’ve seen and read about this kid, he’s better than both of them.
