Negotiation ongoing – Juan Mata edging closer to Man Utd move

So, it’s happening! Chelsea are finally letting Juan Mata go!

Sky Sports tweeted this morning that the Spaniard is edging closer to join Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The Guardian reported that Chelsea and Manchester United have agreed a £40m fee provisionally for Juan Mata, though the Red Devils are yet to make a formal bid for the former Valencia player.

The report says negotiations between both the clubs are at an advanced stage while few sources claiming that the deal is almost complete.

It was well documented that Jose Mourinho doesn’t favour Juan Mata. Somehow, the Spaniard doesn’t fit the bills of what the Portuguese actually demands. Chelsea fans can hardly complain because the trio of Oscar-Hazard and Willian under Mourinho has really gelled well and fetching positive results.

Mata hasn’t handed in a transfer request, as yet, while the final decision will rest with Mourinho, who may block the move as well.

However, it is still baffling why Manchester United are making a move for him. Mata is a classic no 10, who plays behind the striker. United already have Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kajawa for that position and signing a similar type of player is not needed at the moment. That £40m could have been used elsewhere.

Should Chelsea sell Mata to their rivals? Should United spend such huge money on Mata? Is he worth that money? And finally how will he fit in Moyes’ plans?
