Negotiation ongoing – Juan Mata edging closer to Man Utd move

So, it’s happening! Chelsea are finally letting Juan Mata go!

Sky Sports tweeted this morning that the Spaniard is edging closer to join Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The Guardian reported that Chelsea and Manchester United have agreed a £40m fee provisionally for Juan Mata, though the Red Devils are yet to make a formal bid for the former Valencia player.

The report says negotiations between both the clubs are at an advanced stage while few sources claiming that the deal is almost complete.

It was well documented that Jose Mourinho doesn’t favour Juan Mata. Somehow, the Spaniard doesn’t fit the bills of what the Portuguese actually demands. Chelsea fans can hardly complain because the trio of Oscar-Hazard and Willian under Mourinho has really gelled well and fetching positive results.

Mata hasn’t handed in a transfer request, as yet, while the final decision will rest with Mourinho, who may block the move as well.

However, it is still baffling why Manchester United are making a move for him. Mata is a classic no 10, who plays behind the striker. United already have Wayne Rooney and Shinji Kajawa for that position and signing a similar type of player is not needed at the moment. That £40m could have been used elsewhere.

Should Chelsea sell Mata to their rivals? Should United spend such huge money on Mata? Is he worth that money? And finally how will he fit in Moyes’ plans?

  1. fantastic come on red devils lets not leave it hang like of ceasefabregas. do possible efforts required becoz we are tired of embarrassments

  2. hopeful the deal goes through it will add support to the team by fans.hence confidence in title race

  3. I personally, will like mata 2 come but not only him even Luke shaw and possibly sallah from fc Basel.please moyes,we the fans are tired of rumours every day,we are hoping for reality.I can’t imagin my belove club out of top four at the end of the season God forbid it.

  4. Chelsea should have pity on man united , man united’s problem lies in the middle of the park, mata is the right suit for manchester united’s number 10, common morinho release mata to united , you said you dont need him but we need rooney just be fair and real

  5. 40million is an exorbitant fugure. Another sign of panic buying. I don’t think he is better than Paul scholes. He is just duplicating others already available in the squad. Nothing fantastic about this intended purchase. Will just be a failure like fellaini.
    Sell David Moyes instead.

  6. I think signing mata will not fill the hole of united, bcos were will he play Mata? Left winger or his normal position back at chelsea and if is that we hav Roney and Shinji so what i think is that he should spent that huge bid on midfielders becos the bid is too huge for Mata. Lets ask how much did they bought him to chelsea and look at his current stage bench so he may luck play time and the form to will be going down.
