Mission: Impossible – trying to stop the Tartan Army getting drunk

Stemming the flow

Scottish police have launched a major operation to stop Scotland supporters getting plastered on their way to the the World Cup qualifier against Norway at Hampden on Saturday. Frankly, they would be better off throwing their resources into a major operation to win the World Cup for Scotland since their is more chance of the latter happening!

The measures brought in include fines for bus drivers and operators who knowingly allow alcohol to be carried on their services. Ch Supt Robin Howe of Strathclyde Police, said: “Members of the Tartan Army have a tremendous reputation around the world for their friendliness and high spirits. We are determined to ensure that this does not deteriorate into rowdiness or violence because too much drink has been taken by an irresponsible few.”

I think Robin might be fighting a losing battle.
