Milan will be there or thereabouts once again. They'll reach the semi finals, but won't win it this year. The Champions League has been going since 1992/93 and no side have ever won it two years in succession. In the modern era it will take a truly outstanding team to do that; and the current Milan side while very good are not a great team.

Also, if a side doesn't bother playing to win their national championship and only concentrates on Europe that tends to lessen the achievement in my eyes. A great side will win not only the Champions League but also the Scudetto, or La Liga or the English Premier League in the same season.

At the moment, I do not think that there is a truly great European club side. The current Barcelona team are probably the best of the bunch this year, and a young Manchester United side have the potential to become one of the great historic European teams over the next two to three years if they continue their present rate of development. The Manchester United side which beat Dynamo Kiev 4-0 this week had an average age of 22 years. Six of the team were aged between 19 and 22 years. The oldest outfield player was aged 26. Watch out for Manchester United.

Inzaghi broke Muller's record so it is not wise to write off Milan's chance in the Champions League even if their league form is inconsistent.

Roma will make it to the next roud but from what I saw in 3 matches (Man Utd and Sporting, home and away), without Totti they are pretty average team...
