Owen will come good. He may not have played a lot so far this season, but there are plenty of games to go and he will definitely get to play a lot more and make the plane to South Africa next summer. He is class. Frankly I did hope Fergie would sign him when the transfer window opened last June. Thank god he did.

Didn't mean to imply that erwf but you do always seem to get involved when Arsenal are the subject.

That's a worry......suggests you are just a full blown ABU! :)

I really don't understand.

Ferguson makes one potentially excellent signing especially for the cost, and you guys decide to make an article praising him?

Wenger does that EVERY season; practically all his signings are at a low cost and give a high return and yet I don't see any article that praises him.

nice article. I don't know the exact details of his contract but by the looks of it, seems like an awesome deal.

Actually Rafa failed to persuade Owen to stay at Anfield.

He was the one who wanted to leave.

Get your facts right Jake.

How is Owen a mercenary? Benitez sold him for pennies to Real Madrid and why to get rid of him. Then Real Madrid does the samething Then he goes to Newcastle who doesn't treat his injuries correctly. Why would Owen want to show loyalty to clubs who mistreat him and don't want him? Man Utd is taking care of him.

So Simon, Owen was supposed to go to Hull or Stoke, just to satisfy people who didn't like him anyway? Many Liverpool fans didn't like Owen after the 1-5 game in 2001 (some before) because he took opertunities to score for England. Even though he'd earned his England place by banging them in for Liverpool that year. I remember a lot of Liverpool based fans and media bemoaning Fowler leaving instead of looking to what they still had and praising Owen's delightful form at that time.
He's 29 and has to squeeze everything he can out of his career now. He's been gone from Liverpool for 5 years, that's a long time in football. You have one good shot to make everything you can of yourself as a professional footballer, sometimes it takes guts. And Michael Owen has clearly got them.
