LucasDignePSGAt only 19-years-old, Digne already has 49 league appearance to his name, along with Champions League experience, and has been a permanent fixture at left-back for almost two seasons in the Lille side.

Experienced at every youth level of the French national team, he missed only 17 minutes of football during France’s successful U20 World Cup campaign this summer, providing two assists in the process. He looks set to earn a full call-up in the near future, and when he does, expect him to hold down that left-back position for the foreseeable future.

Both Manchester City and Liverpool have been long-term admirers of the young Frenchman, with the former trying to sign him on multiple occasions over the past two seasons. However, Digne completed a £12million move to French champions Paris Saint Germain yesterday on a five-year deal, after they beat newly promoted Ligue 1 rivals Monaco to the promising youngster’s signature.

Primarily a left back but comfortable playing on the left of midfield, Digne is more of a modern wing-back than a traditional left-back.

Digne looks very comfortable running at players with the ball at his feet, and overlaps very well. However, this tendency to bomb forward has left Lille vulnerable at times, especially when he overlooks the simple pass. His decision-making will improve with time though, and he possesses all the qualities to become one of the best full-backs in the world.

Will he dislodge Maxwell from the left-back position at PSG? Maxwell is undoubtedly much more experienced, and probably provides slightly stronger defensive qualities, but he is not getting any younger, and going forward, Digne could provide a genuinely exciting attacking threat linking up with Pastore down the left. I think Maxwell will remain the first choice but for how long?

In short, he will bring more options on the left for PSG, and as a long-term signing, £12million could start to look like shrewd business for the French champions.
