Inter Milan have confirmed that striker Mauro Icardi has agreed to sign a new deal that will keep him at the club till 2019.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with the Serie A (joint) top scorer this season and there were even reports that Jose Mourinho has been in regular contact with the player and even exchange texts often

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid were also thought to  be interested in the 22-year-old, but his agent claimed recently that the striker wanted to stay with Inter.

Inter finished seventh this season under Roberto Mancini and missed out on Champions League and Europa League places.

“All players want to be in the Champions League, but I’m happy here at Inter,” Icardi told the club’s official website (via ESPN) “I hope I can qualify for that competition next year with a great Nerazzurri side.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed the Blues are not interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s french forward Antoine Griezmann.

The French forward has scored 22 goals in La Liga this season and has a reported 65m buy-out clause.

Mourinho reveals his admiration for Griezmann but says Chelsea are not interested in signing him.

“Griezmann is a great striker but is not within our objectives to strengthen the squad for next season. We are not interested,” Mourinho is quoted in the Evening Standard.

Chelsea goal keeper Petr Cech is certain to leave the club. The Czech goal keeper will make a decision shortly on his future, with Arsenal and Manchester United interested in signing him.
