Mats Hummels says that he is not tempted to join Manchester United or any other big European club, adding that if he ever moves abroad, it won’t be because of money.

The 25-year-old defender was heavily linked with Manchester United in the summer, and although the German is happy to see him name being linked with other top clubs, he sees himself playing at Dortmund for the rest of his career.

Speaking to Bundesliga Magazine International, when asked whether he was tempted by interests from Manchester United or Real Madrid, he said:

“It’s nice to hear that big clubs like that are interested in you. I take that as a compliment but it doesn’t influence me in any way, otherwise. We earn enough here in Dortmund.”

“There will always be someone who can pay more than BVB but Dortmund have made a lot of progress during my time here.

“In any case I believe it’s enough for me. If one day I start thinking about playing abroad, money won’t be the reason. I don’t even think about that at the moment. We still have so much further to go here.”

Hummels hints that he might stay at Dortmund forever citing examples of players like Paolo Maldini, Steven Gerrard, and Lionel Messi who have played for one particular club throughout their career.

Reports emerged back in July that Manchester United could be willing to make an offer of €20m for Hummels. Jurgen Klopp, the Dortmund manager, said back then that any potential buyer can forget about signing the German defender with that amount.
