The first half of Matchday 5 is up, and here are the results:

GROUP E

Steaua 1 vs. 1 Dynamo Kyiv

FC Steaua Bucuresti booked their place in the last 32 of the UEFA Cup after coming from behind to earn a draw at home to FC Dynamo Kyiv in Group E.

Real Madrid 2 – 2 Olympique Lyonnais

Olympique Lyonnais secured first place in UEFA Champions League Group E despite letting a two-goal lead slip at Real Madrid CF, although it took Grégory Coupet’s last-minute penalty save from Ruud van Nistelrooy to preserve their point.

GROUP F

Celtic 1 – 0 Manchester United

Celtic FC have progressed past the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in four attempts after a sensational finish against Manchester United FC.

Benfica 3 – 1 FC Køpenhagn

SL Benfica moved within two points of the Group F summit after an explosive first-half performance earned them a convincing 3-1 victory over FC København.

GROUP G

CSKA Moscow 0 – 2 Porto

Just as they did two years ago, FC Porto defeated CSKA Moscow on Matchday 5 of the UEFA Champions League to give themselves an excellent chance of reaching the knockout stages while dealing a serious blow to their Russian rivals.

Arsenal 3 – 1 Hamburg

Arsenal FC needed late goals from Emmanuel Eboué and Julio Baptista to end Hamburg SV’s resistance and secure a significant win in UEFA Champions League Group G, ensuring last season’s runners-up will qualify for the knockout stages if they avoid defeat at FC Porto on Matchday 6.

GROUP H

Lille 2 – 2 Anderlecht

RSC Anderlecht are out of the UEFA Champions League despite two fantastic Mbo Mpenza equalisers against an LOSC Lille Métropole team who now require a result at AC Milan to stand a chance of joining the Rossoneri in the knockout rounds.

AEK Athens 1 – 0 AC Milan

Having ended a 22-game wait for a UEFA Champions League victory last time out, AEK Athens FC maintained their winning habit by defeating AC Milan 1-0, although the Rossoneri still advanced to the knockout rounds as Group H winners because the other match in France finished level.
