I’m not one to say “I told you so”, but I told you so. See my posts 1 and 3 above. Schalke to beat Rosenberg, and Liverpool to “hammer” Marseilles, which they did 0-4! I have a lot of respect for Liverpool and in particular Benitez: he is a master tactician. Few do the one-off game better than he does.

Liverpool will take some stopping in Europe. They will make the semi-finals at least, provided they avoid Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. They have nothing to fear from Madrid, Barcelona or Milan, any of whom they could meet next round.

as for the group stage, here are my predictions:

Group A

Liverpool, Besiktas

Group B

Chelsea, Schalke

Group C

Real Madrid, Werder Bremen

Group D

AC Milan, Celtic

Liverpool will hammer Marseilles. No doubt about it. The rest of Europe will be praying Liverpool go out. No one will want to face them in the Round of 16: not Milan, Barcelona, or Madrid. A Benitez Liverpool team in Europe (particularly over two legs) is a very dangerous animal no matter how strong your team. Just ask Senhor Jose Mourinho, or Frank Rijkaard.

Well done Celtic so now the only 2 british teams to go are Liverpool and Rangers. It would be a nightmare if Rangers went through and we didnt and we were the only british team not to make it.
We were suffering a knock in form when marsielle visited when we go to france they will get a taste of the real Liverpool Football Club!

Well, Celtic have made it to the Round of 16, but that will be it for if they don’t improve their atrocious away form. But good on them. I hope Rangers join them next week.

I disagree with you about Rosenberg. I think Schalke will beat them and join Chelsea in the Round of 16. Schalke gave Chelsea a real going over and were unlucky to finish the game level. They will be too strong for Rosenberg, who are currently out of their domestic season, and perhaps as a result seemed a bit off the pace when they were thrashed by Chelsea last week.
