Mathieu DebuchyArsenal have been handed a massive injury boost after Arsene Wenger confirmed Wojciech Szczęsny and Mathieu Debuchy have returned to training.

The Gunners keeper picked up an injury during the North London club’s 2-1 defeat at home at the hands of Manchester United. Meanwhile, the French international has missed most part of the season due to an ankle injury he picked up against Manchester City earlier this campaign.

Arsenal make a trip to the Britannia Stadium as they face Stoke City in the upcoming league clash on Saturday.

“@13Szczesny13 should be in full training today. @MatDebuchy is back in training. It’s too early for him,” Wenger said in his pre-match press conference.

The Emirates club are also without the services of David Ospina, who is still recovering from his injury. In his and Szczęsny’s absence, Wenger fielded Damian Martinez in the last two fixtures.

The Argentine has managed to keep three clean sheets as the Gunners have won all three matches, including a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

“I always thought he would be a top-level goalkeeper, that’s why we extended his contract,” the Frenchman said about Martinez.

Arsenal registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Southampton earlier this midweek and the latest result has seen them sit sixth in the Premier League table with 23 points after 14 matches and are two points behind fourth place Manchester United.
