Marcos Rojo’s agent Carlos Goncalves has rubbished claims that the Argentine defender will leave Manchester United in the upcoming January transfer window. We reported a couple of days ago that Serie A side Napoli will make a move for the defender in January but Goncalves has squashed any such claims.

He was quoted saying by Talksport to Naples radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, “There is no need to talk about it. The player is happy at United and has no intention of leaving the club.”

Rojo has never quite settled down at Old Trafford having switched back and forth between centre back and left back in Louis Van Gaal’s system. The Argentine had also angered Van Gaal in the summer by missing United’s pre-season tour of America due to passport problems.

The Daily Mail also reported that Rojo infuriated Van Gaal by hiding the extent of his hamstring injury. The 25 year old limped out during United’s 3-2 win over Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday and wasn’t available for the Red Devils’ 3-0 win over Ipswich Town in the Capital One Cup clash.

Rojo however is expected to be back soon and could play a key role in the United back-line with Luke Shaw suffering a horrible injury which is set to rule him out for a long time. Moreover with Tyler Blackett relatively inexperienced, Van Gaal is unwilling to take chances which could stretch his defense under pressure.

Thus despite Rojo’s frosty relations with Van Gaal, it is expected that he will stay in the January transfer window rejecting a move away from Old Trafford.
