Sporting’s young left-back Jonathan Silva has already made a big impression this season in the Portuguese League. The young Argentine has been involved in some big games already – including clash with Porto and two Champions League matches against Schalke.

His impressive performance didn’t go noticed and was rewarded with a call-up to the national team by Argentine national team manager Gerardo Martino.

The youngster has replaced Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, who suffered a shoulder injury in the last match against Manchester City at the Etihad stadium.

The youngster obviously elated with his selection is looking forward to grab his opportunity. However, he feels for Rojo and says the Manchester United defender is like a brother to him.

“Rojo is like a brother to me. I’d like to still be playing with him here, it’s a shame that he is injured,” said Silva.

Incidentally, Silva joined Sporting as a replacement of Rojo, who moved to Manchester United in the summer.

There are lots of speculation about Rojo’s shoulder injury at the moment, with several media outlets claiming that he could remain absent on the sidelines for up to three months or may be more than that.

Rojo himself has stated via his twitter account that his injury is not too serious, although it looks like he could be missing few games for both club and country. We have tried to get more info from various Argentine media outlet, but there’s hardly any confirmed report about his injury at the moment.
